C.marie 0 Posted July 12, 2018 Hello everyone I’m a NEWBIE!!!! Sleeved June 15th Wow this group is amazing !! A bit overwhelming but awesome lol I am having some extreme pain on my Right side where my stomach came out I can’t bend , I can only sleep sitting up , it hurts when I laugh , cough it hurts more than when I came out of surgery .ouch!!!! . I am constantly holding my stomach to do the little things just so it doesn’t hurt omg i just want to HEAL AND GET ON WITH LIFE !! 😩. I already went to see my doctors team this week and got examined they said it’s normal especially with physical activity and Constipation (straining) and as long as I don’t have a fever or vomiting I am okay . Has anyone else felt this ? When does it go away ?
Diana_in_Philly 1,426 Posted July 12, 2018 Be kind to yourself and remember you just had major surgery. It generally takes the body a minimum of six weeks to heal. You are only half way there. Walk. Walk. And walk some more. If you didn't have good muscle tone in your abdomen before surgery, that is going to make the healing harder. In the meantime, be kind to yourself. Yes, your surgery was done through tiny incisions, but it doesn't mean that your body isn't working full time to heal itself. 1 C.marie reacted to this
Sosewsue61 3,185 Posted July 12, 2018 That incision is the most touchy because some nerves and muscles get disturbed more from the extraction. Try not to bend down too much for awhile, put an ice pack on it for 10 minutes, hold a small pillow against it when you get up from a deep soft seat or when rolling out of bed. It gets better but does take some time - we have no huge visible wounds to remind us to be careful and go slowly so we naturally think 'hey I feel pretty good' and overdo it. Pretend you had knee surgery and have a brace and lots of stitches...lol...you do - just inside!!! So be patient, take naps, it helps you heal. Good luck. 1 1 Frustr8 and C.marie reacted to this
