I had surgery in Paducah 10/17/07

Recommended Posts

I'm actually from NW Tennessee but only about 60 miles from Paducah so it was a good choice for me. Just wondering how many people on this forum have had surgery in Paducah by Dr. Alex Argotte?

I don't actually know the final price but my insurance [Anthem BCBS] covered it and I do have some copay but haven't gotten the bills yet. I am pretty sure it will come in at less than $16,000.00. Based on what I have seen so far I am expecting my part to be something in the range of $1,000.00 out of pocket but I have had multiple doctors this year for different reasons so I had met most of my in network deductibles before this surgery.

My daughter worked for Dr. Argotte in Paducah and at Lourdes and still works for Lourdes. I didn't have mine there. My fill doc is Dr. Trace Curry in Cinci. Tracy, you ought to check him out. He is world reknown and fabulous. He has two offices in Cinci and has done more than anyone around here. I drive 12 hours round trip to see him instead of the doctors here because number one he's never lost a patient and has a perfect record for fills and slips and stuff. Here's his addy:

I am in Southern Illinois and see Dr. Argotte. I just rec'd my insurance approval and am waiting on the DR's office to call me with what happens next. I assume it will be some pre-op stuff and then we set the date. Was your expereince with Dr. Argotte good? How are you doing?

e60: I think you will like him, altho there are a lot of new office staff that can make that side of the office kinda crazy, but hey, they are learning. I get my first fill from him today. excited about that. I have done very well, and am pleased with him.

Hi JustMel, I am having my band surgery on

July, 18 with Dr.Argotte and was wondering if you had the vena cava filter? I haven't seen alot of info about this on this board and I'm just curious about the number of ppl who have it done prior to getting banded. I had my gallbladder removed 2 yrs ago and didn't have it done. I've actually never even heard of it until I started seeing Dr.Argotte. By the way I really like him and I think his staff are great(especially the older crew). The new ones are a little fuzzy about things but I know they're in the learning process. Also, congrats on your successful surgery and recovery!

No, I chose not to have the filter inserted. I am pretty active, no history of clots, never on BCP, knew I would be up and walking within a couple hrs of surgery, etc, so decided against it. However, if I had had any circulatory issues or health problems, or risk factors, I would have it done. You just have to weigh the odds and make what you feel is the right decision for you.

Had my fill yesterday. It was a breeze. Didn't feel a thing. He put 1.5cc into my 4cc band. Anxious to see how it works for me.

Good luck to you. Keep me posted.

Mel

They presented it to me as optional. I did have to sign a release stating I understood the risks and was opting to not have it.

I have Dr. Argotte as well...worth every mile and dollar that was spent.

As far as the filter, it wasn't fun getting it, but I was so paranoid about clotting and how easy it is to get one, I just did it. I figured a little more money was worth prevention and a scare in the long run.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
