Omg, I Love Cigna!

:kiss2::clap2::whoo:My request for lapband authorization was submitted on Nov. 1. It was approved on Nov. 4. I am still in shock. I don't have it in writing yet but I have the approval number. I'll post my surgery date as soon as I know it.

This gives me a whole new meaning to "down side"!

Congrats!!!! I have to ask what proof did you have to give them to show that you qualified? Did you have a five year in a row weight history?

You are giving me hope. My paperwork is to be submitted by Friday to Cigna. I so bad want my surgery before Thanksgiving and there is a huge possibility it could happen if Cigna is on the ball and approves me next week. I am so crossing my fingers and toes!!!!

Congratulations to you.

NEWLIFE! Congratulations on getting your approval! I think I read earlier that you're going with Dr. Blackstone. Keep us posted when you get you're band date! You have worked so hard to get your approval. Good job!:clap2:

A word of praise! The insurance coordinator called me today and said that apparently the way my insurance is set up, after I jumped through all their hoops, I was automatically qualified and approved! that came MUCH faster than I thought it would!!!!!!!!!! I just submitted to insurance on the 7th.

I will have surgery the last week of November. WOW that is just a few weeks away! I already have the 30th set up as a surgery date, but I think I will bump it up a couple days to make sure my stay in the hospital is covered. I think if I have surgery on the 30th, and get discharged on the 1st of December, they may not cover the first, because I canceled the insurance on the first of Dec.

enough of my rambling... this is really going to happen!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
