No excited about revision

Recommended Posts

Well, Thursday is the big day. Thursday I go to my first appointment to see about how to get a sleeve revision to a RYN.

I don’t know why but I am really not excited about it. When I first considered getting the sleeve, I was really gong ho about surgery. I wasn’t worried at all. Just wanted the surgery to go smoothly and quickly.

Now that I am face with needed a RNY revision do to change complications associated with my sleeve, I am just stressed. And a little freaked out.

Anyone else feel like this?

Hey there!
Yes I felt the same way I am 3 months out from a revision do to complication of my vsg. I just focused on feeling better I had really bad Gerd and hital hernia had returned along with few other things. I felt very confused and didn't want anything to go wrong. And things went good. Try and stay positive it will be ok hope that helps please keep us posted

I felt the same way. It took me years to see a doctor about my sleeve to RNY revision. It is very scary!

but being anxious & scared is normal. But things got better when going through the program again and feeling confident with what my surgeon & team were saying. And honestly, being on this forum helped; to read about others revisions. Don’t give up and try to remain positive. If you have complications that can only be fixed with a revision, then it’ll all be worth it in the end. Hang in there!

The rny was really easy for me- what are you specifically nervous about and maybe folks can help ease your mind?

May I ask why you have to be revised from sleeve to RNY. I have the lapband and am getting bypass in September. Never lost significant weight with band.

I was just revised to bypass from band last week. I only ever lost about 35 lbs with the band but would have stuck food constantly which made me eat sliders. So far so good. I waited 10 yrs too long to make the change. Good luck!

Yes this is the reason the doc said RNY because I have some reflux from the band and he said reflux gets much worse with the sleeve

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
