Laura7 334 Posted July 9, 2018 Hi guys, my surgery is the 25th of July. As I watched YouTube videos on WLS I saw someone mention the BariMelts. When I started my pre-op liquid diet I couldn’t keep down pills. So I bought the barimelts and I just tried them. They taste great! I hope my tastes don’t change toward them after surgery. Anyway. I just wanted to share. If you have other Vitamins you like let me know. I bought: Calcium D3 to absorb Calcium Multivitamin Iron+Vitamin C I didn’t get the B12, my doctor hasn’t told me to. Vegasurvivor 85 Posted July 9, 2018 How many times per day do you have to take them? I thought I was doing great taking my all my Vitamins and then I read the bottle of the barriatric Vitamin I have and learned I'm suppose to be taking it three times per day. Not too smart of me not reading the label...now I'm looking for a multi that I can take once per day. Sent from my Z970 using Tapatalk

It just says the dosage is 2 for multivitamin, 2 for Calcium, 3 for iron/vitamin C and 1 for D3. So this picture is a 1-2 month supply depending on the bottle. It cost me about $20 a bottle. I’m sure you can find them cheaper somewhere. But yea I’m going to take them all at night.
TeeJay84 33 Posted July 9, 2018 I wouldn’t stock up on Vitamins pre-op. I took the Celebrate Complete pre-op and found that my stomach couldn’t handle them AT ALL after surgery. They made me violently ill. I had to switch to a Vitamin d3 softgel, Flintstones Complete and the monthly B12 shot. Not everyone will become intolerant of their vitamins after, but be mindful just in case. ;) 1 Laura7 reacted to this
Carlad48 4 Posted July 10, 2018 I have to take two Multivitamins in AM and Calcium chew two hours after. I then have to take calcium chew at dinner and bedtime as well. I was told not to take calcium with multi so you may want to check into that.
Vegasurvivor 85 Posted July 10, 2018 I wouldn't try taking them all at once after surgery. You can before but after...not a good thing. Even one may make you nauseated or sick. I've always had an Iron stomach and could take any kind of pill ect. But after surgery things are not the same. I've had to buy calcium citrate three times in two months trying to find one that I did not get nauseated from. Bought chewable from barriatric advantage and have to take three per day with food at different times of day. Finally found what works on third purchase. And person that posted that said do not stock up before surgery has best advice!!Sent from my Z970 using Tapatalk 1 Wanda247 reacted to this

Space them out as much as possible to get maximum absorption. Also, calcium needs to be separate from your multi, and it absorbs better with food.
Laura7 334 Posted July 10, 2018 Thanks for the advice. The NUT didn’t tell me that.
Matt Z 4,139 Posted July 10, 2018 I'm digging the PatchMD vitamin patches. My 3 month labs came back good, so they do work (at least for me). Love not having to take a handful of pills or chewables. Just slap on 3 Patches in the morning and I'm good for the day.
Vegasurvivor 85 Posted July 10, 2018 I'm with you on that. When I need to reorder, I'm going with the Patches. Which 3 do you use? Of course the multivitamin I will order. My NUT suggests B12, calcium citrate and an Omega three. Thank you!!Sent from my Z970 using Tapatalk
GassyGurl 428 Posted July 10, 2018 I used flintstones complete, and use barimelts to meet my Iron and Vitamin D targets. Taking 1 barimelts iron gets me to 54, and 1 barimelts Vitamin d puts me over my target.Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
Laura7 334 Posted July 10, 2018 The Patches sound great. I will definitely look into that at my next round of Vitamins. 1 Matt Z reacted to this

I know that @Matt Z is happy with the Patches, as are others on here. But they are controversial and some programs don't allow them.

You do have to take your Calcium separately due to the multivitamin containing Iron. So I take my calcium citrate/vitamin d tab in the mornings and 1 multivitamin at night. Once you can swallow pills, these are a great option. $45.99 for a 90 day supply.
