Cheez its, my little snack

Recommended Posts

I have found that I really love a little snack now and then that is not too heavy. I bought a 36 pack box of Cheeze Its on Amazon and they are the perfect size to just give me a little bit of pleasure to my tongue. Anyone else love Cheeze It?

They're highly refined, high calorie/low nutrition, high in polyunsaturated fat. Nutritionally? They're kinda...poison junk.

I think they're tasty, but they're so incredibly awful nutrition-wise. If I'm going to do something that naughty, it's going to taste a hell of a lot better than a Cheezit. LOL

Also...we all need to work on better ways to find pleasure/reward....than food. Particularly, crappy food that hurts us.

Cheezits are my kryptonite. Total slider that I can eat WAY too much of.

So while Creek might prefer something that that “tastes a hell of a lot better” there ain’t much that tastes better to me. BUT they make me lose control and eat way too many carbs... make me crave more simple carbs and really throw off my plan. So they don’t come in my house. I can eat half a cookie or a couple bites of ice cream... but cheezits I can’t eat just one. I’ve given them up.

Jess, I think we have the same cheat DNA! Cheezits cannot come in my house! You're right, there ain't much that tastes better to me, either!

Have you tried any of the dehydrated cheese products? Moon Cheese, Whisps, Sonoma Creamery? They are delicious and are just pure cheese, so more Protein and few carbs.

Yup! They are fantastic but I can eat way more of those than I should too! I can get a small package at Starbucks or something but never buy the costco size bag anymore

I figured most vets or semi vets would have tried them :)

If you see the Sonoma Creamery ones, give them a try, they're my fave that I've had.

Yes, and thank heavens they come in 2 oz bags! But really, I'd rather have Cheezits  I know they're crap but I love 'em anyway. Especially the new overbaked ones. They're the "bad boy" I want to have a fling with!

I almost want to forget there is Protein in cheese! Because even those solid cheese Snacks like Parmesan crisps don’t fill me up st all. One year out, I need to stay with those solid Proteins to feel that fullness! Cheese doesn’t do it enough, sadly!

And chips of all kinds -- I just stay away from them. And cheese, too, for that matter (except for blue cheese on my brussel sprouts -- I am addicted to buffulo brussel sprouts). My orders were to not count cheese as a Protein source.

Really? That's interesting. Why?

I wonder why? That would be hard for me. Cheese makes up a big part of my diet

Well your orders were wrong. cheese is an excellent source of Protein. Cheez its have 5 grams of Protein per package by the way.

Fingers in my ears - "la la la la la"!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
