Hello Everyone! I was blessed to get the sleeve after multiple attempts to lose weight naturally. I’m currently 10 Days post opp and able to handle more fluids than originally stated. I can drink 6-8 ounces in 20 minutes time by sipping and not feel sick. I’m not hitting Protein goals bc I’m not hungry and that is hard to sip. Is this normal ? I’ve talked to my dr and he’s not concerned I’ve lost 18 pounds since surgery before the pre-op diet I was 294 the day of surger I was 281 and my follow up was Friday and I weighed 263. Has any one experienced this ? An I still gonna get full once I one to soft foods ?

Yes, liquids slide right through. You will start to feel restriction when you get to soft foods. No worries. And congrats on your surgery and smooth recovery!

Don't wait until you feel hungry. Ever! You may be one of the lucky ones who doesn't experience much hunger post-op. Plan out your Protein, divide it into 5-6 servings throughout the day and drink up!

How about drinking Protein Water to get your Protein in? Are you allowed Protein Shakes?

The protein waters are easier to get down, imho. They're still quite sweet, so I Water them down or add ice. But both the waters and the shakes counts toward both your Fluid and your protein requirements.

I am 2 months post op as of tomorrow the 9th of July and I do not get near 300 calories a day. I have only lost 21 pounds so far. Two little yogurts and I am full. I try and eat a little bowel of oatmeal in the morning with a tablespoon of brown sugar.

How are you getting your Protein?

I have an unsweetened Protein Powder that has 20 grams of Protein per scoop but I have no used it yet I just bought it. I am going to make some black eyed Beans in the crockpot today and that should provide some nice Protein.

It's just that at 2 months out you should be getting your full protein amount. 2 yogurts isn't enough. It doesn't have to be all from foods. If you don't give your body enough protein, it will start breaking down your muscle. Your body is starving. Are you using shakes or protein Water or anything?

If your body goes into starvation mode, not only is it damaging to your muscles and organs, but your weight loss, too.

Well I am going to start using Protein powder made with milk. I put it in the blender and make a shake with it. I was using sweetened protein powder and it was too rich for my stomach and it made me feel sick.

That's good. Also, the Protein waters are easier to get down. They're still quite sweet, but not at all rich. Just like the shakes, they count as both Fluid and protein. Please try to get your protein levels up. I'm worried about you.

There is alot of Protein in lentils and black Beans which I eat tiny portions of through the week. I have some black Beans in the crock pot right now.

Yes, they are a good source of Protein, but you've got to eat a pretty big serving. Each Fluid oz. has about 5g of protein. I would be hard pressed to eat more than 2 oz. in a day. But, if you can eat them, great.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
