Anyone had kaiser pay for their arms and tummy tuck?

Recommended Posts

I have kaiser permanente they did my sleeve almost 2 years ago, I heard that some patients have gotten their Tummy Tuck and arms approved by them or they refer them out but pay for it. I have kaiser and live in southern California and are that in Northern California they refer out. Just wondering how hard it is to get it approved and if it’s worth doing it through them. Thank you!

Kaiser is really hard to get approval from. I had RNY in 2016 and I tried to get them to do a Tummy Tuck about 6 months ago but they denied it. They told me I didn’t have enough hanging skin and I didn’t start out at a high enough weight. My highest weight was 265 and I’m at 175. I ended up going to a plastic surgeon and I’m having the surgery Wednesday. If you started at a higher weight you have a good chance they will do it

It was very painful 😣 I love the outcome but I wasn’t prepared for the pain. I had RNY in 2016, breast surgery in 2017 and the Tummy Tuck in 2018, by far the last one was the hardest. I had drains on both sides of my hips that ended up staying in for 2 weeks. The drains were the hardest thing to deal with. The good thing about the surgery is you see results right away. I’m 6 months out and still a little swollen but my stomach is pretty flat. I’m glad I did the surgery, I just wish I was better prepared for the pain. If I had any advice to give , it would be to make sure you get a lot of pain pills 😀

I'm having a drainless TT next Tuesday. Just wondering if you think the post op pain will be less because of the no-drain technique? Any tips for the immediate days following the TT? TIA.

The only thing that caused me a lot of pain was the drains. The one thing I would suggest you get is a raised toilet seat. It’s very hard to get up and down with your stitches and the raised seat helps a lot. The Dr wanted me to sleep in a recliner for 3 days but it was to hard for me so I just propped a lot of pillows behind me and slept in bed. I think you will do great with the drain less one. Good luck 👍

Thanks for your vote of confidence. I have the raised toilet seat (from years ago when I had a cast on my leg) so glad to see I can get some more of money's worth out of it! Yeah, no recliner but I bought two foam wedges; those things you use behind your back to read in bed. One behind me and one under my knees should keep me in a ideal post-op position until I straighten out.

Thanks again for bringing down my fear level!

It was honestly the best decision I ever made. It’s weird to look in the mirror and see a flat stomach. One thing that’s a little weird, your numb where your incision is. I’m not sure if the feeling ever comes back.

It never does but you get used to it. 5 years TT post op. Scheduled for RNY. June 3. I'm doing it backwards. Lol

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
