Which salsa are you using? Does the Tomato acidity bother you at all? I've been told that tomatoes are a common food not tolerated after VSG.

I never thought of mixing in tuna with greek yogurt. I'll have to try that too... Thanks!

I had RNY and eat tomatoes all the time. Never have bad a problem.

Yes way, :) I was born in Peoria and lived in Pekin until I was about 10 years old. Moved to Chicago and spent my teenage and college years in that area. Moved back to Peoria after college, met my husband, so on so forth. I've been back for the last 8 years.

I lived in Peoria Heights until I was 18, went to college for a year at ISU, then joined the US Navy. I've lived all over the country and even spent some time living in Germany.

I just looked at your progress photos on your profile! Awesome!

I use it to make veggie dip. Sometimes you’ve just got to get creative!

Ash, do you just use straight greek yogurt and dip mix? I tried it based on your suggestion on another thread. It was a bit too intensely yogurt-y for me. Any tips?

I do, I only use the plain Chobani... I don't know if that will make a difference. Also, I have to leave it to "absorb" the seasoning overnight, otherwise it does taste sour.

Also, are you using the "dip" mix from hidden valley? make sure you only use 16 oz of yogurt per packet.

The mix was a store brand I had used in the past, and made with only 1 cup, so I got that right. I wonder if my yogurt is more intense than Chobani. I used Trader Joe's Greek Yogurt, Non-fat, Plain. It has a few less calories and a little less Protein, I can't imagine they would taste that different though. Or maybe it was the mix ...

its hard to tell. The hidden valley brand is really strong, and it may mask that taste. it could also be the yogurt, because I bought a generic from Aldi one time, and I didn't care for the aftertaste.

I have some Hidden Valley Ranch, I'll give that a shot and see!

just be sure to use the "dip" mix, I can't vouch for the Salad Dressing seasoning.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
