Burrito bowl mistake

Recommended Posts

So guys!

I was really craving Mexican so I got a burrito bowl super healthy version only chicken and lettuce and sweet corn no cheese ,cream, guacamole or rice. I ate two bites and puked the entire thing up.

I’m 4 weeks post op and it was way too much, I’ve been doing so well I thought I’d be a little adventurous. Never again!

Oh yeah I’ve been on soft solids since week 3 and moved on to normal textures with caution this week.

I heard corn can be difficult for people early on. I would give it a few weeks and try again.

Yeah that’s probably it I thought it might have been maybe the oil or the spices but I’ll avoid all three because I was soooo sick 😂

My doctor suggested that you should try the item again and that the response you had may not mean it is a lifelong issue. I know it sound like a difficult thing to do but if you like burrito bowls it would be sad to never have it again. Maybe leave off the corn this time. It is not easily digested.

Lettuce is often a problem for some (and not others.) I never had a problem with it, though by preference I usually use chopped spinach over lettuce given its' somewhat better nutritional profile.

Our general rule of thumb was to try new foods one at a time to test for tolerance - if it worked, great, if not then try it again in a couple of weeks.

I think that the first meal out was at Chipotle, and had their soft tacos, left the tortilla behind and had the filling of chicken, cheese, bit of rice & Beans, and a bit of their veg (all of which I had sampled in one form or another before this) and it all settled well

I was just going to say it was more likely the lettuce. Lettuce is not a Soft Solid, it's a "Raw" and Raws are the last stage to be cleared for.

I couldn't have lettuce until 3 months out.

I’m 6 months out and had a taco last week. Thought I was going to die. Stomach pain had me to the point of crying. Never again.

I can live without tacos.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
