I am about 7 weeks post-op and having a lot of trouble moving through the food stages. I should be in the soft food stages but I am still in the stage two liquid with a little bit of puree. I throw up on certain puree options. I am constantly nauseous and fatigued.

I want to contribute some of the fatigue and nausea to the 100+ degree weather in Texas but does or has anyone else had these issues?

I'd call the doctor's office. You should at the very least be able to tolerate most purees by now. Are you able to get your Water in?

I can drink Water fine. I can handle almost any liquid fine but the puree is for sure giving me some trouble.

My doctor said everybody is different and its normal for me to reject it if my body doesn't want or cant handle it

How soft are your purees? Are they the texture of applesauce?

What type of purres? Are you avoiding fibrous veggies? Purred meat may still be too difficult. I’d focus on things like Greek Yogurt, refried Beans, cottage cheese, cream of wheat, and things that are notably easier to digest.

I stick pretty faithfully to whats on my food list when it comes to pureed food. I have not made anything crazy but sometimes the texture alone makes me sick. I think i'm not chewing enough also.

I can relate to the texture issue! Sometimes our brains really take over. I had a hard time eating things that aren’t naturally soft. Things get so much better when you transition to soft foods. Hang in there!

My doc said that the stages are not written in stone. Also what are you making the purees out of? Could be whats in it? There are a lot of foods that are on restriction cus of what they do to your stomach even pureed

I agree with "the stages are not written in stone". So so true. Give your tummy time to adjust!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
