Lap-Band Doctors in Sonora Mexico

Recommended Posts

Did you actually read the person's post on Obesity Help Forum? Because somehow it seems like you didn't read it.

The person posting does not sound at all like she has any agenda at all other than telling about her friend's tragedy. I feel for her loss and I am aware that all surgery has risk, but you are saying things that are completely different from a person close to the family. Jami was there. She says nothing about any botched bypass, but instead tells that her friend had been approved for bypass by her insurance company in the U.S. but was convinced by her daughter to go to doctor Aceves for a lap band instead. She says nothing about multiple heart attacks only of her friend going back into surgery with doctor Aceves who found a ruptured intestine after he had put in the lap band and everything went from bad to worse after. They had to call in an Internist, I thought the hospital was a full service hospital and had such a specialist. The person who posted does seem to know what happened, she was there. Unless you were there like Jami, I don't see why you are changing facts.

No one is trying to blame anyone, so I don't see why your version is completely different than the actual close family friend that was there when Patricia died. I just feel it's a very sad tragedy. Who's to say what would have happened if she had gotten the surgery she was approved for in the States instead of surgery in Mexico.

I really don't want to discuss Patricia's tragedy any more.

All I want to say is that I feel that standards are different in the U.S. and that if at first I was considering Mexico, after reading the post on OH I am seriously reconsidering weight loss surgery. If I decide to get surgery, I will definitely be doing more research on U.S. doctors.

I told the truth. I have no reason to lie. The patient in question did have a previous WLS and it was messed up by a US surgeon. Clearly that is not to say that US surgeons are bad. They aren't. But some are - just like some Mexican docs are bad.

The family doesn't blame Dr. A for what happened and they were there, unlike the person you are quoting. People need to make their own decisions.

I really don't think you should go to Dr. Aceves. You don't have the trust necessary in a doc and so you should probably go to someone else. Trust is key.

However, I have a hunch you are yet another Gonzalez coordinator trying to trash yet another Mexican doc.

If the coordinators could depend on quality information about their own doc they would have little need to attempt to trash Ortiz, Aceves, Zapata, and other quality Mexican surgeons. They could depend on their MAIN ID, they could post the facts of their own docs vs. PMing me and asking me not to post stats because it makes their doc look bad.

When a doctor has a great reputation, has done thousands of bariatric procedures, is voted for by even the US docs into international bariatric positions, and they have one person that wasn't even present during a horrible event vs. the thousands of patients that had perfect experiences... people have to engage in a few critical thinking skills and make informed decisions.

I don't stand by and let Ortiz get trashed without sticking up for him, I'm not going to let you trash, post and repost the same half truths for my own doc without standing up and saying something.

The thing about trashing docs and having individual experiences is that the patient can go on line and make any claim they want. The doc CAN'T defend himself. He can't tell the rest of the story, the parts that the patient left out. Such as, there was a patient that had surgery, she was told not go take tub baths or go swimming for "X" number of weeks. Four days after having surgery she went swimming in a public pool and one of her incisions became infected. She went posting to everyone telling them she got an infection and blamed her doc. She didn't tell the rest of the story until later and turns out, she went swimming in a public pool where people urinate in the pool. Where does the fault go with that kind of infection? The doc? Or the patient who specifically did what she was told not to do?

You are taking a story with half truths and manipulation and posting on more than one thread trying to discredit a Mexican doctor and surprise surprise, you are another supposed Gonzalez future patient.

Why is it that it is mainly Gonzalez patients trashing everyone else? Why is it Gonzalez patients have a need to start threads and push their doc non stop? Daily they post how much they love him. Daily they have new patients trashing other Mexican docs with new IDs.

It doesn't take someone with 3 brains to figure this one out.

She was there when her friend passed away after doctor Aceves operated on her, so she knows how things happened better than you.

I haven't trashed any doctor, lied, or said half thruths. I have no reason to. Yet somehow this issue has hit on a very sensitive chord with you. I'm sorry, had I known this would happen, I would have never posted the information I found when looking for my options. I would never have expected this reaction from you. You are so pasionate about research and are always instructing us future band patients to be extremely thorough when looking into possible surgeons. That's all I did, and now you are almost crucifying me. I didn't lie or trash anyone, I'm sorry. You have even said you have special contacts that give you information on many doctors in Mexico. Why was I so wrong in posting information I found? I didn't add or take away from it. Just pointed towards it for other people researching, just like you do, but somehow when someone other than you does it, it's wrong, lies and trash.

So go ahead and reply in your usual manner, you'll have the last word because after this experience I won't give you the pleasure of replying to you again. I have better things to do.

I wish all other persons reading and posting the best of luck and as redundant as it may seem: do your research, just be careful who you contradict because there seems to be a double standard here.

Jimmyjoe, don't apologize for posting this information. That's what these boards are for. Potential patients have a right to know.

Wasa is crucifying you because you posted this person's experience, that's all. It does not help her Quest here. She has her own agenda. Now she claims to have a health history of this person, even more than the person's friends and family! She will now proceed to accuse you of using a fake ID...oh, I see she already has.

I didn't lie or trash anyone, I'm sorry. You have even said you have special contacts that give you information on many doctors in Mexico.

She doesn't have any special contacts other than the people she works for. She has been asked to share her contacts with us here or provide documentation to validate her statements and she never has.

Why was I so wrong in posting information I found? I didn't add or take away from it. Just pointed towards it for other people researching, just like you do, but somehow when someone other than you does it, it's wrong, lies and trash.

You were not wrong. Wasa is wrong here. For the rest of us, our hearts and prayers go out to the friends and family of this person. Revision surgery is a very technically challenging procedure and should only be done by surgeons with a great deal of experience and expertise in this field. Mainly because of the abundance of scar tissue and risk of bowel perforation, which is what happened in this case.

So go ahead and reply in your usual manner, you'll have the last word because after this experience I won't give you the pleasure of replying to you again. I have better things to do.

Don't let wasa chase you away. Stay here and share with the rest of us. We appreciate it and can help each other. Also, don’t give up the idea of having surgery or even going to Mexico. Just do extra research and you will find a good surgeon. Many of us have.

I am not speaking for WAS but I would suspect the reason it may hit a chord with her is because we as baned patients hold our surgeons in very high regard, they are like our family . And if we FEEL someone is saying wrong information then that is like attacking our own family . In situations like this where someones life is in danger people need to make sure FACTS are put out there before things are put out for everyone to read when in this day and age some people will read what ever they want into posts.

People will take what they read on here as "gospel" . So if it hit a Chord For Was I suspect it was because she feels about her doc the way most of us do . Especially if we had a good experience.

The fact of the matter is docs mess up more often then people realize.

US Docs mexico docs. Does that mean they are bad ? NO it means they are HUMAN. SO just because this doc had a death doesnt mean he's a BAD DOCTOR . People need to get off that trip ! Just because this doc lives, works and was born in Mexico does not mean he's a BAD DOCTOR.

What makes a doctor bad is repeat mistakes, high infection rates, high slip rates, high erosion rates.

Mindy

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
