Hello!

I just had my surgery yesterday, and I probably have a leak. I am so scared and I and freaking a bit out. Some prayers and positive thoughts would be very appreciated!

So, why do you think you have a leak?

Praying everything is ok for you. I had a leak that was discovered 3 weeks after my surgery, and even though it was tough, I made it thru and am ok today.

stay positive!!

Thanks for the positive thoughts! I had a CT scan that showed no leak, but because there was so much scar tissue and changes in my anatomy due to the old band, things were wonky. I'm happy to say all is well now, and the Clear Liquids are staying where they should. I have an amazing doctor!

What a scare. I'm glad that you have confidence in your doctor. That makes a lot of difference. No one wants to go around with things all wonky with a doctor that's all wonky, too.

I'm glad things are all good, But I'm still curious why you thought you had a leak to begin with.

Hello!

They thought I might have had a leak based on my swallow test. I'm a nurse and I work where I had surgery, so I got more info after my test than the average patient would have. When I looked at the xray pics, there was a spot that looked like it might be draining into the wrong area (i.e. not my bypass site at the y junction). The CT scan came back ok, and thank God I'm ok!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
