How many days/week’s post op were you when you started the Puréed stage ?

Recommended Posts

I went directly to liquids/ soft food (yogurt, pudding etc) from hospital. Maybe a week out was cleared to start trying anything else as tolerated

Good luck!

One of the biggest differences is the surgery performed. The requirements for sleeve and bypass are pretty distinct.

This seems to be the new way of handling post op for sleeve patients. My surgeon is/was very conservative but my friend and unrelated medical provider is also a Bariatric professional (non-surgical) and your eating plan is how the industry is gearing post-op plans for sleeve patients these days. It’s just hard for most surgeons, hospitals to adapt their mindset.
I AM NOT suggesting anyone deviate from their provided post-op plan!

My surgeon has you start pureed on day 3 through the end of week 3.

Then "soft foods" from week 4-6. Soft defined as you can cut it with a fork which included most meats aside from steak.

Week 6-12 was anything except breads or rice.

Week 12 was no restrictions.

We were on purees along with soft foods like scrambled eggs or some fish as tolerated from the hospital on out for the first month.

I started on pureed foods (oatmeal, yogurt, strained cream Soups, riccota cheese, sf puddings etc) on 3rd day after hospital discharge. Since I was released on July 4th, today was my first day of purees. I still have to have some protien shakes to get all my protien. I won't find out about diet advancement until my post-op appointment on 7/11.

On the up side, since April 17th I have lost 50 pounds!!!

I think Ohio State moves their RnY. from 2 to 4, only sleevers have to go through 3, when I asked why the only, answer I got was because they have a longer suture line to heal. Odd, isn't it?

I meant to quote May Z who had a less conservative plan. The new thinking is to get folks on puréed food fairly quickly.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
