Today I recieved the most horrible news. My drs office callled and canceled my surgery that was scheduled july 6 2018. I am highly upset and disappointed in myself. After doing so good I’ve failed . I went to my preop appointment last Friday my younger brother passed away weds. Under stress I did smoke a cigarette or two. I just wish I hadn’t of done it I wish I had coped differently. Now I may never get my surgery. I talked to the nurse an she said she will tell my doctor my situation but I don’t think it will make a difference, I believe we get one chance then your kicked out the program for good.😣😭 since getting this news I’ve been in my room just sulking. I don’t know what to do. Has anyone experienced this before?

I'm so sorry. Maybe you can go to another program to get your surgery, after you get finished with the smoking. I know how disapointed you are, it sucks and hopefully your DR will cut you some slack. Again I am so sorry!!

Oh my❤ I hope it is merely postponed not forever canceled. You,have come so far,up be abruptly stopped. I, of all people, know how that feels. Don't let this stop you, keep on seeking a way to have it. Your Angel brother would not want you to stop, keep on trying to find a way, and when you do succeed, you will do it in memory and to honor him. (Hugs)

Oh, Andrea, I am so sorry about your brother. Hopefully the doc will be a bit understanding about the tremendous stress you were under. (hugs)

I’m sorry to hear that they won’t kick you out they will just prolong it but you will still be able to get it done. Prayers for the loss of your brother don’t give up stay focused and you will see how everything will work out and you will get your surgery 🙏🏽

Sorry you are dealing with your brother’s death. No one knows how to cope with such news.

I hope your program delays the surgery and maybe they can give you a few more weeks and test you again. You could ask. Don’t give up!!

Are you sure your kicked out? My office said that if they find nicotine that they wait 2 months. I am so sorry that has to be hard. But don’t get to discouraged there are so many programs that will be happy to take you some don’t even test for nicotine. It’s just a delay but not the end!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
