Okay so I was in surgery June 20. Then realized I had not been released so tried drinking stuff first day was Icechips mainly I was afraid.

I had no issues doing and swallowing them. Which has kinda worried me.

I then started drinking Powerade zero 1-2 ounces at a time. I was not hungry nor did I get a ovefull feeling. I never seem to get hungry nor do I feel full.

So today I started the better full liquid diet where you get to add in cream Soup. So I had the Tomato cream yesterday and cream of chicken. I was able to eat 4 oz in 30 min. Never feeling hungry nor full.

Any thoughts or ideas? I hate to think it didn’t work?

I stil have a lot of gas/burping and hoping it will go away soon.

Anyone has had this happen to you?

Thanks!’

You have to.be more patient. I had same issues. Maybe worse. I had hunger. I couldn't believe it!! Everyone told me to give it some time. My stomach settled down and it went away. What your feeling is totally normal. Just follow your surgeons orders on what to eat and you will be fine.

So why exactly do you think it didn't work?

It was the same with me… Only Coldwater was a problem in the beginning. Once you transition to soft or solid foods you will definitely feel restriction. I still feel like I can eat a little bit more than anyone else but the wait is definitely coming off so hang in there!

liquids for me were very easy to get in. Besides, you’re still healing and nerves aren’t fully healed yet so you won’t feel much.

I never tried to get in 3-4 ounces at the liquid stage; even now on soft foods I stay below 2 ounces or less. But follow your teams guidelines. Now that I am a little over 6 weeks out, I get full from some Protein Drinks & satisfies from some foods. Don’t worry so much, and just be patient

I had the same thing. Liquids, full liquids and puree were no problem at all - I had to restrict them myself by carefully measuring my portions. Once I got to soft foods/normal foods though I felt the restriction. You're doing good! Talk to your surgeon/dietitian for help and guidance if needed.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
