New sleevers: Anyone else simply exhausted and napping?

Recommended Posts

I have sleep apnea and insomnia, so I'm used to my sleep being disturbed. But I haven't really woken up for a couple of days! I've only lost 10 pounds since the surgery (6/13) and I'm afraid this is some insidious plot by my body to reduce my metabolism. What do I do? Let me rephrase that: What do I do without coffee?

Are you still taking any pain meds that make you drowsy? I did nothing but sleep and sip Water for a few days after surgery, but once I started weaning off the hydrocodone, it started to become easier to stay awake.

I had my procedure on the 21st and slept for 3 days. I finally snapped out of it. Now, I'm having a hard time finding a good Soup that doesn't make me gag. And these hunger pains are awful!!! Has anyone else experienced hunger pains?

I did take an oxy last night, but wouldn't have expected 5 mg to have had such an effect. I don't expect to take one tonight, so we'll see.

I was tired all the time after my surgery. The first two weeks I was on a liquid diet. The reason for the tiredness was twofold. 1- My body was healing from the surgery and 2- I was only getting liquids. After a week and a half I started feeling more energetic.

It took me about 2w post op not to need a little nap. Keep walking, get your Protein and Water, and rest when your body needs it. You're healing from major surgery!

Surgery 6/11/18. My husband asked me last week what I was trying to do with my "sleep schedule". I was like, well, when I get tired I am going to sleep. I am on a more regular schedule now, but his OCD tendencies crack me up. I have never been a napper, until I started the pre-op diet. I am no longer napping, but still waking up several times during the night. I have also been walking the treadmill longer each day, hoping it will keep me asleep longer.

2 weeks and 6 days out. I was pretty much hibernating the first week. I’m able to do things now but I go to sleep as soon as I get home if I go run errands or something. I get easily exhausted.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
