I am 5 day post op. I had gastric sleeve on 6/19 and was sent home 6/20. I thought that was extremely soon.

Anywho, I am having random stomach pains. They remind me of the pain felt when trying first meal post surgery. It happens so sporadically throughout the day. Even my pain meds can’t keep up. I’ve been told it’s normal but geez this is so painful. I do ensure that I walk and I’m getting about 30 oz of Fluid on a good day. Is anyone else experiencing this? Anything I can do to help minimize the pain or make this whole process more bearable?

Also, everything that I have tends to run straight thru me.... literally. I take a few sips of broth and can feel and hear it work its way thru my system. In 15-20 mins, I’m seeing it again from the other end. Is this normal?

I had surgery on 6/19 as well. I stayed 2 nights in hospital & was sent home nausea, reflux & pain meds.

I took pain meds for 2 days & did very little walking. Was only in pain when used stomach muscles.

Today, 6 days post op & I ate my first soft meal, I’m running errands & driving. No problems. I’m a little slow paced & there’s still discomfort but nothing like ur describing.

I would call ur dr if I was u.

Its all normal. Random stomach pains could be gas or just your body reacting to surgery. The stomach noise and the liquid running right thru is all normal.
Follow drs orders, walk as much as possible. Each day will get better. It takes a few days for ylthe stomach to calm down. Your going to be just fine.

Thank you so much. I did talk with my doctor today and was told it’s all normal but that I need to work on getting more liquids in because I’m not getting nearly enough. So I will focus on meeting my liquid requirement and once I’m good with that, then I will start trying to eat again.

The doctors office will always tell you to drink more and to get your Protein in. Whatever the issue, that's their answer. Your going to go through different weird things in the first months. Body is going through a lot adjusting to the change. The best advice I could give you is to drink Water and your Protein Shakes. Start the next stage slowly. . I worried about everything. And it all passed. Every day you will feel a little better.

In the first weeks my stomach made so many noises. And everything ran right through me. Be happy for that cause Constipation sets in after that. Much worse. The first month after sleeve was something new each week. A new pain or weird feeling. Then things settle down and I starting feeling myself again. Just drink, walk. Relax and don't worry. Its all normal. If you have fever, throwing up or extreme stomach pain or your incisions are inflamed then that's different. Your doing great. Read the internet about sleeve but believe only half of it. Utube people are so dramatic.

1 month post op - I still get random pains. sometimes before I've even eaten anything. it takes a while for us to heal up, so unless it's severe, it's likely normal.

I had surgery on June 4, was released the next day. The third day I woke up to find out that I am more allergic to codeine. Pain management has been a huge struggle. Liquid tylenol hurt so much that every dose brought tears. I had a lot of those random pains. Part of it turned out to be reflux, not a problem I had prior to surgery. My Dr said the rest of them are spasms. They get less frequent and lighter after a couple of weeks. I still have some when I eat. Turns out they can be a really good gauge for good that is too fatty before you much and regret it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
