Slow weightloss?

Recommended Posts

Hi, my name is Leilani and I had RnY bypass on 4-4-18. I am wondering if an increase in appetite is normal at almost 3 months out? I feel like I can eat more and it honestly scares me! And when I look at the scale I feel like everyone else who has had this surgery has lost way more than I have. Is this normal? I know I shouldn't compare myself to others but sometimes it's hard! And I know I can't expect instant results but I just feel like my weight loss is sluggish even though I'm working out every day and eating and drinking properly.

My appetite came back when I was 2 months out. It's normal for the weight loss to be a little slow. Not everyone loses quickly. Sometimes to speed it up you need to add in a little more of something. Maybe more Protein or more Water or change up your exercise routine. Your body gets used to the same thing over time.

Another thing is that you could be gaining muscle. I can eat more now that I'm a year out compared to when I was 3 months out or even 6 months out. The trick to that is making each meal more filling. Some people just put the scale away for a while to focus more on their weight loss instead of what a bunch of numbers said.

You are probably right. I think I need to change up my workout and try to up my Protein and Water. It probably would help me mentally to hide the scale for a while too. I've noticed I weigh myself everyday sometimes multiple times a day and that doesn't do any good since weight fluctuates so much during the day.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
