I am so bummed. It’s been 2 years since I’ve had my sleeve surgery and have gained 30 pounds back. My cravings returned. Life got hectic. My back needed surgery. My activity decreased. I no longer like the taste of the healthy foods that I previously ate.

I’m gaining weight faster than before the surgery. How do I snap out of this?

Visit your bariatric team to make a plan, they may recommend additional support such as therapy or additional surgery, or it may be as simple as a stricter diet and physical therapy plan. Safe journey again!

I agree with Tealael. Sometimes we need to go back to basics, and that also includes going back to seeing your dietician/therapist. Life can get hectic, but we still need to make time for our health. Easier said than done, of course!

Start tracking immediately. Find out what you Resting Metabolic Rate is (google RMR calculator). Ask yourself if you are really hungry before you put it in your mouth. Portions should be no bigger than your palm, use little plates. Be accountable.

Get your notes out from surgery and go back to basics, get an app for tracking food - like Baritastic or myfitnesspal.

Your surgeon's office can help find a therapist, or just make a dietician/checkup appointment. Don't be embarrassed - just start. Some physicians prescribe weight loss meds or other appetite suppressants for 3 months to get you jump started. Do whatever you have to in order to start being accountable.

Dump the junk out, pour dish soap on it in the trash - you already bought it, so the money is gone don't let it cost you weight gain too. Then go shopping for some Protein and vegetables, get a new fancy Water bottle.....you can do it, you HAVE done it before.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
