Who shares my Happy Band Day 10-29-07?

Recommended Posts

So we are officially 1 week post op. How are ya'll doing? I am pretty darn good, and going to work tomorrow for the first time since surg. Still am having a little feeling of stomach swelling from time to time, but overall way less sore. Lost 13 # on my less than 2 week high Protein, low carb diet and have lost 3 more since the day of surgery. I'm happy about that, still on full liquid diet, I think for 1 more week. Good luck to you all and I wish you a speedy recovery and great success.

Sounds like you are doing great! My date is 12/17 so I figure I will start my liquid diet after Thanksgiving. I am hoping that I feel ok by Christmas especially since my husband told his parents that he could cook Christmas dinner at our house (but what I want to know is who is going to clean the house before everyone comes over?) Congtratulations again.:clap2:

I was banded on the 30th and feeling great! I lost 10.5 pounds on my 2 week pre-op diet and as of Monday at my primarcy care physician check up I was up to losing 21. 21 is 3 weeks, I am definitely not complaining! Guess it is making these hunger pains a little easier to deal with knowing it is working. Cant wait to start full liquids on Tuesday. I may actually try something this weekend if I am still hungry (which I am sure will be the case.) Glad you all are doing well!

mms83, way to go. I know what you mean, about the hunger. My first several days post op, I went to bed hungry every nite. I just kept telling myself, this is only temporary, because the fluids are going right through. When I get the the soft or mushy stage it will be better, I'm sure. Maybe even experience satiety on some level!!! I am in the zone, focused and ready to do what I need to do. Best wishes on your journey as well....Victoria52

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
