Stressed and WAITING!!!!

Recommended Posts

I went thru 4 of the 6 month insurance required appointments and then my employer changed my insurance and was no longer covered for the surgery so I had to stop. It took a year (and another employer) before I could get insurance that would cover it again and then I had to start the 6 month program all over. It was a long journey but well worth it. Hang in there and be patient.

Yea, that was a lot you had to go thru as well. Thanks for the encouragement.

I had to do 6 months of monthly check ins with a nutritionist, even though I had the band at the time... But, insurance is going to want what insurance is going to want.

It's well worth the struggle, frustration and wait.
Stay Strong,

You got this.

Do your nutritionist visits need to be monthly or something? Ask them if they can fit you in if they get a cancellation or something?

@ Taylor Made 4 One if you need any help with tantrums, apply here. I have been up, down, close and, not so close, approvable and rejected, wanted and unwanted and I 've been stumbling through since August 2015, not only do,i have the jacket, I had to sew the fool thing. Surgery July 2018 or I disintegrate into a quivering ball. Dr Bradley Needleman is my,potential RnY-evator but I STILL don't have an exact date. New Mantra

Sounds impossible doesn't it? I had finished all my requirements, after re- calling and re calling repeatedly they finally told me I had insurance clearance to proceed. Oh we'll call you with a date as soon as surgeon checks his schedule, if he isn't clear maybe, one of his partners might. Should have saw something screwy, them having a meeting to discuss my case. Then I get a call saying nobody wanted to perform my surgery. When I tried to,pick them down more they tried to say. I was not emotional stable and couldn't understand about surgery. Bullfeathers, I am not so stupid that I want to stay where I'm not wanted. slicked myself up, dried my tears and decided to apply where I had wanted to go from the beginning. Had only gone to first, place because it had been recommended,to,me. Program #2 has treated me with the utmost respect, everybody is kind, honestly likes me and is willing to help me make my surgery, a GOOD experience. As I look back, there was something fundamentally off about the first place. They were not warm, I tried to disregard it, thought maybe that was the way things are supposed to be, doctor never looked me in the eye, thought,it somehow was my fault, but I feel clearly they were the ones lacking. Honestly, think if I had wandered onto the Interstate and gotten run over they would not have shed a tear. And Program #1,was in a Catholic hospital, in fact PCP had recommended them thinking they would treat me in a decent manner. My new program is located in our state land grant university, doesn't matter if I get escorted to the hospital by the🏈 football coach or a 🚜tractor driver, these people DO,have,my back. And I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting every member of their bariatric staff. July📅 is going to be a Wonderful month for me and my surgery! And although I am usually a very sweet tempered person. I wish unrepairable hemmoroids 💩for Surgeon #1 and his office staff!

I have to do the 6 months. My insurance isn’t requiring it but my WLC won’t do any WLS without the 6 months of classes 2 hours each time. It’s only 1 class a month. I am half way through and am very glad I have the 6 months to change my diet and lose as much weight as I can before surgery. I think some people need this time to start getting there head in the right place . I decided to see a counselor and get going on myself . This has helped a lot in my process .

Have they given you a possible surgery date yet? That is one thing that my WLC gives us in our first class. They feel it encourages everyone to work a little harder and we aren’t left wondering when will this ever happen . I know that insurance is a crazy thing sometimes to wait on also. But the fact I have a possible date makes me feel better . I can see the light at the end of the long tunnel.

Hang in there you will get your surgery and do amazing .

Yea, that's a good idea. I wish someone would have told me everything I had to do before hand, cost and a possible date that alone would have been a huge encouragement. At least I'm not alone when it comes to the struggle of waiting. It will soon come!!

I had finished my 7th month trial and the day after I lost my job. I started another but I was through a temp agency so I had to wait to be hired on full time. 11 months later I finally was made perm 1 month after that I had my insurance. Now after 6 months of the weight loss trial (June 1st was my last) and retaking all of the classes, I finally had my EGD yesterday. Now my question is, whats next? Do I call them? Do they call me? I am not sure when the appointment for the surgery happens.

If I were you I would call your doctor. After my EGD I had a follow-up to talk about the results. I also received pictures.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
