Brewer 7 Posted June 22, 2018 Having surgery next Thursday and I’m worried of my hair falling out. My hair is already thin to begin with I have to take thyroid pills for a hypothyroid and it’s gotten thinner over the last few years. I’m very self conscious about my hair it used to be very thick and now I just miss it. If anyone has any advice on products that work really well I would greatly appreciate it. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this

Rogain works to promote growth. Biotin (either ingested or topical) works to support the structure of the hair itself.
Hop_Scotch 1,632 Posted June 22, 2018 An interesting read on why Hair loss happens: https://www.drdkim.net/ask-the-dietitian/understanding-hair-loss-after-bariatric-surgery/
KimTriesRNY 1,853 Posted June 22, 2018 You can do what you can to try to prevent Hair loss but to some degree over 90 percent of people that have this surgery will experience hair loss. In the long term, the health benefits of losing the weight and no longer being obese will be more important than hair loss. I agree it is upsetting, I have been losing a good bit of hair myself. For most people though this is temporary and it will eventually grow back.
