Orange Theory Fitness

Recommended Posts

Has anyone here heard about Orange Theory Fitness? There is one opening up near me, and I am interested in joining. I am 5 week’s post op and feeling great. I’ve been doing cardio and have no pain or any discomfort and want to kick my exercise up. I’ve been looking for a PT for when I hit 3 months PO, but they are sooooo expensive. $80+ per session. I only planned to meet with them once per week, but it’s just too much.

So i heard about OTF and wanted to see if anyone on here is a member by chance?

I’m not a member but they have an Orange Theory fitness gym close by where I live. One of my friends went and really enjoyed it.

If you read the reviews just be careful as it is a business and it does seem a few people have had bad experiences as far as billing concerns and being charged for extra things.

They have a free workout you can go to before you commit to anything. I’d like to try it once I’m I need a bit better shape myself.

I’ll definitely try the free class when the location opens. I agree about the billing stuff. I have yet to find a gym that doesn’t have that! I work next to a Boston sports club and it had the same issue. What is it with gums and refusing to cancel memberships!

That’s how gyms make their $$. They get in you and you’re stuck in a contract. This is why I won’t do gyms that have a contract. There are so many new fitness places that are popping up. But they are so expensive. If i remember correctly, OTF (near me anyhow) was about $160 per month for unlimited classes. Something I was not willing to spend.

There is one opening in Leominster near me. Pretty out of the way for you, but there is one in back bay I think? One in Cambridge and Brighton too that may be closer to you. I also like how you can use your membership at any location, so I can use the Brighton/Waltham one if I decide to go after work :)

I got to OTF and really like it. Great combination of cardio/body weight/weights. But it’s definitely a hard work out, so not something for those still recovering. I’d probably weight 8 weeks post op before starting.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
