3 weeks Clear Liquids? I was off clear liquids on day 2.

Wow, now that’s what I’m talking about! So frustrating how it varies! Can’t they decide on a standard already!

if I may ask, how is your weight loss going on real food?

I think any calories you burn working out don’t count towards your daily total. The idea is to create a deficit. Your body takes x amount of calories to run each day from breathing to making your heart beat. That’s called your metabolism. If you have a low metabolism it takes less to run. Eating provides the calories for it to run. If you eat less than you need to run it creates a deficit and you use reserves (fat) to do so. If you eat more you store the extra. When you excercise you need extra calories for that time. So if you need say 1500 a day to run but burn 100 during a work out you need 1600 to run. If you’re only taking in 1000 calories you pull that 600 left from fat to run. 5 days of that and you lose a pound because 3000 calories is a pound. Make sense??

With RNY the idea is to lower the amount you eat and also not absorb everything that you do eat so that your caloric intake is super low causing massive weight loss.
There has been nothing massive about my weight loss im loosing extremely slow and gained a pound.. i go to the gym 10 times a week and do cardio and strength and many times end up with less than 400,500, or 600 calories and im not loosing

Overall it’s a lot of weight. You might be having a stall. It’s called a plateau and the way Around it is to switch things up—instead of going 10x a week go do some hiit or CrossFit 3 days a week and strength training 3 days a week. As for food look at your diet, while calories are low make some changes like swap from red meat to fish, try some plant based protien drinks etc. swapping it up once in a while should help keep your body from getting complacent.

@mercmerc did u see the video on not going to gym in first 6 months after WLS? I posted it yesterday in this thread. Dude may be onto something... I’m thinking your body is in shock from too much with too few calories in starvation mode. Starvation Mode is a real thing folks! We’ve got yearsvof evolution perfectibgbit. I would rather try meditation and stretches to calm your fight or flight response...

Down 15 pounds preop, another 6 since surgery 12 days ago. Plus, I’m 57 with my post menopausal metabolism. Not exercising much yet - that will start soon.

I’m over two weeks into a stall and have been super down about it, thanks for sharing that yours has ended and that it lasted 3.5 weeks! I know I should know better after researching and reading this site and all that, but I’ve been really stressed and frustrated by this whole extended plateau thing!

Both of us went back to school last week, right? My NUT said sleep and stress can cause plateaus too. Which is super helpful because now I’ll be stressing out about not being stressed about plateauing (and the whole start of the school year thing).

Maybe our bodies just need to readjust to the new routine/schedule?

I’m back to school as a teacher so PLENTY of stress haha, last week was our workshop week and I’m back with kids on Tuesday. And I’m taking an evening graduate class...maybe too much to take on right after surgery, oh well!

Right now I’m trying to plan ahead and have meals prepped for the week so I don’t end up not eating for too long or eating something crappy...pinning a million Keto/high Protein low carb/ WLS recipes on Pinterest right now and hoping to actually make some of them!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
