Has anyone had a problem with bad breath? I am 5 weeks out and have struggled with bad breath since surgery.i brush my teeth and a half hour later I get that dry yucky taste back in my mouth! I was initially told no hard candy, mints or cough drops as they can cause an obstruction if swallowed. Am I alone in this or has anyone found a solution?

It sounds like you could be in ketosis. That's once of the side effects for some people.

Does anyone else have back pain post surgery? I’m walking a lot every 2-4 hours and sleeping in recliner. Less than 48 hours post surgery

Yes! I have definitely had an issue with this. Right now I’m sticking with mouthwash and occasional gum as well as brushing my teeth more frequently...I’m curious why this is a thing!

On the pre-op liquid diet I had bad breath too. Hopefully it won't last everyone much longer.

Okay, I’m SUPER craving buffalo something. How gross would adding Franks buffalo to cottage cheese be? I have some ranch seasoning, would taste okay to add a little of that plus a bunch of Frank’s buffalo hot sauce to cottage cheese? Can’t decide!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
