Question... I'm a barber and I wonder how long before I can return to work?

What surgery are you having?
Recovery times should have been discussed with you at some point.
Depending on the surgery, and your work requirements you could go back in a few weeks. But standing for long periods of time leaving over people might not feel all that great. And most are told not to lift anything over 10 lbs or so for upwards of 6 weeks.

Yes. I was told not to lift over ten pounds... But everyone say something different about returning to work. I'm getting the sleeve. My doctor said I can so a haircut after about a week but that was when I just did about a cut per week..since then I've gone back to work 3 days a week 8 hours a day.

I'd ask them again, let them know your situation changed. My fear is that if you go back too soon, the weakness / light headed that can happen will be too much. Then their's the whole "not knowing how the new stomach is going to take to certain foods/liquids" etc...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
