2 1/2 weeks post op and not losing weight

Recommended Posts

I had the sleeve on June 4th and have not dropped a single pound since Monday. I’m struggling with my Vitamins and have yet to start exercising because of my living conditions. I live, literally, in the middle of nowhere and don’t have a gym close by. I HATE exercising in front of my husband and he hovers around me every where I go. I just bought a used wii and got Zumba and dance party and I think that will help. I’m also trying to learn to eat 4-5 small meals a day and I’m doing about 3 meals. Im well under 500 calories a day...I know that for sure. Im super depressed because this has turned out to be harder than I thought and feel like I’m a huge mess. Any advice or words of encouragement would be wonderful.

You should straight out tell him to get away from you... or better yet, tell him he can't be around unless he's exercising as well. Get him involved! There really isn't any excuse that matters here. You can walk outside, use stairs, lift common household items for weights. Plenty of things to exercise with, without needing to go anywhere and I'm sorry, but using the excuse "I don't like to exercise when my husband is around" is pretty thin as an excuse. If you want to lose weight, you MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST exercise.

The first few weeks / month does suck, there is a LOT of changes happening and it's just tough.

Just keep working on your plan, stick to what you were instructed to do, make sure you are getting as much Water as you can, upwards of 128oz+ a day!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
