BigDrew 1 Posted June 21, 2018 I’m post op day 1 with terrible esophageal spasm. I’m very uncomfortable and they don’t seem to be taking it seriously. Anyone have similar issue and if so what helped?
Creekimp13 5,840 Posted June 21, 2018 (edited) Try drinking your fluids a little warm, this can sooth a cranky esophagus. Avoid anything cold or iced...as this will sometimes cause spasms. Edited June 21, 2018 by Creekimp13 1 BigDrew reacted to this

Anyone have similar issue and if so what helped?Take small sips if you still get spasm, ask your surgeon for a swallow test, I have achalasia type lll, same symptoms my surgeon had to cut several muscles in my esophagus to relieve the spasms best of luck!Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 BigDrew reacted to this

Anyone have similar issue and if so what helped? Tincture of time. I'd give it a while before panicking that you Have Something New. (You do; you have a new tummy and all your innards are cranky.) You were probably intubated during your procedure, and your poor esophagus got yanked around. I'm a week out, and mine is getting much better. Teeny sips, and hang in there! 1 BigDrew reacted to this
