Stop Overthinking, Just let the surgery do its job.

Recommended Posts

I do not write alot of posts, but i read alot. since my sleeve in january the most popular posts i read is about people thinking they lose too little weight over time.

Ofcourse we will all lose weight at different rates, but there are alot of factors that goes within that. Starting weight, inntake, how your body is healing, Protein intake all that.

I took my surgery 1 week after a friend who was just 20 pounds smaller than me, ive lost over 2x what he has but he is doing fine. it discouraged him to see me lose so fast even tough we stayed on the exact same diet.

The important thing is not to doubt the surgery, if you start doubting and losing morale it might affect your mindset more than you can think.

ive seen people who started at 200 pounds complaining about losing "only" 30 pounds in the first 2 months. i mean thats over 10% of the body mass its not bad.

my starting weight was at 370 pounds. i currently weigh 253.53 pounds. We all differ in personality and interests but we all have the same issues. But the most important thing is to stay positive and think about what you eat.

I payed for my surgery from a private institusion(goodbye 15000 USD). I skipped the puree phase cause i couldnt find anything i could like. i only went on liquids and right to solids. i eat at this phase alot less than i should not on purpose but because i cannot handle anymore, tough today i ate a whole cup of instant noodles. i walk 5.59 miles daily with my dog, and i think positively.

Ive been sick atleast once a month, sitting here right now with the flu. Alot of people who just started on this journey also are already stressing about the risk of rebound.

Rebound does not happen by itself. Just focus, try to have atleast some activity daily and eat healthy. Alot of people on this forum has great recipes ive tried and alot of great tips. look to the people who has been sucesfull years after surgery and still are on the forums helping people. Get inspiration from them and listen to what they have to say.

Excuse my English, i live all the way up North in Norway so i know spelling mistakes will be a common sight in this post.

Very good perspective. There is not such thing as losing “only” a certain amount of weight. A loss is a loss and it’s better than where you came from.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
