magpie26 244 Posted June 20, 2018 Has anyone just randomly became lactose intolerant after surgery? I only drink fairlife milk because of the extra Protein not because it doesn't have lactose. The other day I was out so I made my shake with regular milk and I used a little extra because i was going to be out for awhile. Long story short, I was sick that day, I drove past the last place I could use a bathroom (I live in a rural area) my stomach rumbled, I was maybe 8 miles from home, (warning TMI-) it happened, I wish I was wearing depends! I was in my husband's car too! What a mess! Wth? Milk never bothered me before, but according to the surgeon this is common (just not pooping your pants in your husband's car lol!) Yogurt and cheddar cheese are fine, (believe me, I can see Cabot cheese plant from my house) but ugh, seriously? Anyone else have a problem with milk randomly now? Matt Z 4,139 Posted June 20, 2018 The reduced surface area of your stomach and the reduced amount of time items stay in the stomach can and will effect tolerances. 1 stacy71 reacted to this
Creekimp13 5,840 Posted June 20, 2018 I've had issues with regular milk. I tolerate yogurt, cheese and whey ok....but regular milk will give me a case of the loose goose for sure.
magpie26 244 Posted June 20, 2018 You're telling me! But my family has a wicked sense of humor so it was super funny for days. I even got my surgeon to laugh. (Hey, all the best comedians come from Massachusetts!)
Deb616 0 Posted July 15, 2018 I don’t know if it’s lactose intolerance or what it is but I have the same issue when I drink any type of Protein Shake. I don’t eat yogurt and cheese is no problem, I use half and half in my coffee and no problem there either.
