Just got approved for gastric sleeve and no need to take classes. Will find out my date tomorrow. Only took insurance 4 days for approval.
Are most dates being scheduled 4-6 weeks out from approval? Did some of you get scheduled less than that?

I had my date within a week, it was 3 weeks after that, but I also made sure to tell my team that I was open to any time, any day as long as it was as soon as possible and they worked to get me in, they had a cancellation and slid me right in. Just be open about your desired timeline and willingness to be flexible.

Congratulations!

It really all depends on your surgeon’s office. Sometimes there are still tests that need to be done before surgery can be scheduled.

For me, I got approved within 24-hours, which was great. Not so great, however, was that I had to wait for a surgery date because I still needed clearance from cardiology and pulmonology. It took two weeks to get in to see the doctors. Then, a week later, I was scheduled for an endoscopy. I got approved on April 5th, but didn’t have surgery until May 10th.

When it comes to scheduling, they’re usually pretty accommodating. They gave me a list of dates available, and I got to choose which one worked best for me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
