Oh, my, I've been going crazy without this board!

Recommended Posts

Yup; I can get crazy with out my 'hit' of LBT. I'm back into doing my 'check in'...and it feels good to have it.

Without it; I panic. :help:

yep- me too; I was having major head hunger last night and I use this board as a crutch to talk me off the potential binge that might occur otherwise.

yea for LBT!

HOORAY!!!!

I don't know what I'd do without this board. It has been my lifeline through this journey.

It appears one of the servers at the company that hosts the site crashed over the weekend. I was so worried something had happened and I lost lapbandtalk for good.

I am so happy it is back. My surgery is scheduled for 11/20 and reading posts on here really calms me down. I kept checking it every 15 minutes. I admit that some not very nice words came out of my mouth.

I was so worried that it was gone for good. I'm so glad that it's back. I may not get the chance to come on here everyday, but when I do get the chance and it's not available...I freak out. I'm so glad that it's back...now I can sigh a sigh of relief.:clap2:

And there doesn't seem to be another board out there like this one! Not one that is as active and devoted to lap band surgery, at least not that I could find. Being somewhat housebound after having my surgery on Thursday, I really wanted to get on this site!!!

Dang, I never realize how addicted I am to this site until it's UNAVAILABLE!!! I've been going through withdrawals!

Same here! I've been trying to get on since last night and I've been checking it about every 30 minutes. Glad to be back!

:clap2:

I still take the cake here. I went so far as to track down the company that hosts the site this morning and called them just to make sure there really was "just" a technical difficulty and that someone was working on it. I apologized right and left for calling them telling them I knew it wasn't really my place to call, but they were very friendly and said they knew there was a problem and would have it back up shortly.

I just couldn't stand not knowing if Lapbandtalk was permanently MIA due to funding problems or who knows what reason as opposed to just some computer glitch which thankfully is what it was. If it had been down for the count I was already trying to work out ways to start a drive to bring it back. I think (strike that I KNOW!!!) I'd even be willing to pay a membership fee to keep this site going if it ever came to that. I am ever gratefull to the person/people that started this site and those that help to monitor and keep it going.

Wow! Me too. I was trying every 15 min. or so, thought it was a problem with my computer. I am a lap band talk junkie I guess!:(

I know! It was down for 2 days and I had to go to obesity help. :( It's ok but seems more geared toward RNY.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
