Sending prayers your way @ZeroCool!!! Stay focused and strong, your re birth begins!! Once they take you away it will be but a blink to you. May you wake up smoothly and without any discomfort. Can’t wait to hear how you did! Love and hugs

Thank you Ellie - I don’t even remember going under which was kinda funny. I remember going into the operating room and commenting that it reminds me of on television. Then they fixed the mesh hair cap thing on my head and nothing after that. Pain afterwards is horrible though :( I walked to the bathroom but couldn’t wipe which was embarrassing but the nurse helped me out. Hoping for this to pass sooner rather than later lol

Thank you :) definitely trying to so I can get back home to him ASAP. Gas pain isn’t *as* bad as it was yesterday but it’s still pretty bad for me right now. Add that to not being able to sleep and this hospital bed being the most uncomfortable bed on the planet and it’s a cocktail for no fun lol. I hope today goes well so I can just go home. Depends on my walking later today and Water / Fluid intake i guess.

I am scheduled for 8/22.

I am remarkably calm about the surgery, no worries or anxiety about it at all, but the day before I have to go in and have a picc line inserted - they haven’t been able to get veins without sticking me 7-10 the last three times I’ve been for blood work- and I’m terrified of the picc line. I know that isn’t rational, but try telling yourself that your fears aren’t rational when yours in the middle of an anxiety attack!

Otherwise, the bag is packed, liquids purchased, dog walker engaged. Playlist for waking the hospital Halas is downloaded. I’m ready for the surgery. Bring it on.

Wow, that’s amazing! You seem quite well prepared! Good luck with the picc line! Hopefully it’s easy and pain free! I was wondering how you were going to listen to music? Will someone put it on for you in recovery on your cell? Or blue tooth? Or earphones? I have music I would love to hear as well, but I’m thinking only when I wake and can use my headphones?

That's one think I've never had, a picc line, but I can understand in your case it would give easier access for an IV etc I hope it doesn't prove painful for you.😳

My typing was a little off last night! It should have read “Music for walking the hospital halls...”. I have a small Bluetooth speaker that lives in my backpack that I am taking, but for walking I will use headphones.

I had friends suggest music for a playlist - songs they thought I would like or that were important to them, or were healing. A nephew and niece were particularly in tune with the exercise. Some people didn’t give very helpful suggestions..(“Anything by Chance the Rapper...”) but now that it is completed, it is an interesting, enjoyable playlist that also makes me think about these people I love and keep them close.

On reflection maybe " Waking the halls" was a Freudian slip, might be more true than "walking the halls". IDK but it makes me ROFLMAO!

I kinda like the idea of 20 year old me rearing his ugly head and walking the halls with a giant boom box circa 1983 on his shoulder, playing music with the volume and the bass turned way up!

Thanks for that mental image. I, too, laughed out loud.

I have lupus, which last year, during a flare, caused a massive heart attack which left my heart damaged. It’s strong enjoyed to get by, but not if I stay at my present weight. It took a year to get where my cardiologist would clear me for surgery, which put me right back in the hottest part of the year...the most dangerous time for my lupus. I’ve been spending a lot of emotional energy just concentrating on not dying. I will be so glad when this is done and the next part of this journey is underway.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
