Good to know. But we can have issues, apparently.

On my fourth or fifth day post-op, I was alone so treated myself to a toot. Imagine my dismay when my solo was, um, not just musical but liquid as well. Glaring at my undies in the bathroom trash, I scrubbed for what seemed like ten minutes to mop up this THICK BLACK SLUDGE--it reminded me of printer's ink. I was terrified to ever leave the house again, let alone enter a pool or something, but my nurse manager explained that it was all the blood left over from the surgery. Yeesh!

I am now just a month post-op sleeve and finally had my first big girl, solid pooh! Just like old times. Hoping I’ve turned the corner into new/old territory. For good.

Oh gosh I read about this all the time. Guess once I have surgery I’m going to have to make the unused basement bathroom my pooping bathroom.

I am already very shy in the bathroom at work. OMG, I am afraid! I must admit I have been worried about this bathroom issue or not making it to the bathroom.

I have never laughed so hard than I have at these. The only problem is that i am 6 days post op, and laughing still hurts!
P.s. i love poo-pouri!

People who have not had your surgery yet… Don’t worry! You can figure it out and it is not so much of an issue after a while. I have zero issues so there is hope!

I hate having to poop if I’m not at home now!

Same here! 🙋‍♂️ I try to wait until I get home.

Just over 3 months post-op... and some days are ok... others not so much. More "not so much" though! Some days... even the Poop-Purri doesn't help much... just the weird combination of essentials oils, and rank poop.

Not sure if it's just me (I'm pretty sure it's not) but pooping at work, post bypass is a crazy embarrassing event! I've had folks walk, in and then turn right around and leave thanks to the wonderful new smells I'm producing! So embarrassing! And it lingers think and heavy, like some cross between tear gas and smog, some unseen nasal assault team going full speed ahead attempting to cause gagging.

I've recently decided to bite the bullet and buy some Poop-Pourri, just a little 4oz bottle to pocket and take with me to the can. I don't want to advertise or promote, but for what it's worth, it helped out greatly. A few times it didn't work as described, but it sure helped! I don't feel super ashamed leaving the toilet now!

Figured we could share some horror stories or other "Pooping at work" related tidbits / tips/ tricks etc

I usually will try to wait until I get home, even when out in public. This is due to me being a super germophobe, and yes, sometimes it smells very bad that I can’t stand it myself. If I must really go when I’m at work, I will use a restroom that is far away from my work area. This is due to hearing coworkers talk about others stinking up the restroom. The way they find out is that they go checking for shoes under the stalls to identify the culprit that’s stinking it up. We have 4 floors with two sets of restrooms on each floor, so I bail out away from my floor. I do what I have to do and as soon a as I’m done I try to make a quick run to the sink before someone comes in. When I’m at the sink, I will already have my disgusted look on my face (as if I walked in in this stink bomb). I will start to walk out in a hurry and by the time I get to the door I let out a big “wheeew, man that’s bad”.

I’ve also heard foot steps walking towards the restroom and I know I won’t get to the sink on time, so I make a run for the urinal to play it off. Once the guy walks in I head off to the sink.

All this was prior to me having the sleeve. After my surgery it sort of went away. Every now and then it will be foul smelling, but I’ve noticed that it’s when I eat red meats or processed meats. Otherwise it’s odorless if I eat veggies, Protein Bars and Protein shakes.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
