So if you are like me, often times I buy something and it sits in my closet and by the time I realize it, the expiration for return has passed. I've been doing something a little different lately. I've been buying all my transition clothing from either TJ Maxx or Marshals. They accept all clothing, even without a receipt, as long as the tags are still on. Therefore, I leave the tags on the clothes until I actually wear them. And if I found that I shrunk and they are too big, NO PROBLEM! I just return them for store credit and get something new. I also don't feel hesitant in buying clothes that don't fit yet, because I know that I don't need to worry about the return policy. The best part about it is, they have super cute clothing, especially Marshals. They have 1x-3x (14/16-22/24) in plus size and obviously the standard women's sizes. I find a lot of tops there for around $10, which happens to be cheaper than Walmart most of the time.

Thanks, Ash! Great idea!

I shop the Goodwill and St Vincent de Paul - I go to the 'higher end of the city' ones and find great stuff - I have a Bob Mackie dress and Caribbean Joe dress - paid $5, Ann Taylor tops $3.99. So if I skip the size it's not that painful. But I do have a Marshall's dress in the closet too!

I never have good luck at Goodwill, its a shame! I can find stuff for the hubby, but not me. I wonder if that will change once I move into standard women's sizes.

Good to know Ash!

I lost patience for shopping IRL ages ago. I do all my shopping online. I order tons of clothes a few times a year, try everything on at home and then send everything I don't want back. I wonder if as I move into regular sizes I'll enjoy the in store shopping process again though?

I think I enjoy it more. I'm more apt to try things on in store now, before, it was a hassle and I would just leave red faced, sweating, and disappointed.

Another tip.... look for consignment stores that will sell your bigger stuff and give you store credit for littler stuff.

There are adult versions of Plato's Closet out there if you look:)

Yes, we have one called Clothes Mentor and they have juniors-plus size women’s clothing. I’ve tried taking my stuff there and they practically rip you off. I love buying there but I won’t sell.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
