sleevemebaby7781 36 Posted June 16, 2018 I was just wondering a few things about the process with Blue Cross Blue Shield federal. I have almost checked all the boxes and completed everything on my list, and I plan on submitting the paperwork to the insurance on the 25th of this month. I guess my question is 2 fold:1. How long does it take for them.to approve the surgery? (Assuming that I am approved of course).2. How soon after approval can we have surgery? I am at a bit of a time crunch because I am a teacher and I go back to work on July 30th and would like to have at least 4 or 5 days of recovery before I start that week. The 1st week usually consists of meetings and setting up the classroom, and it's just the teachers before the kids return. I am getting my classroom set up now so that the physical labor when I return is minimal or non existent. Any suggestions? Is that even feasible to assume that I will have surgery within a month of submitting the paperwork?Sent from my SM-G892U using BariatricPal mobile app
lex2287 98 Posted June 16, 2018 I have BCBS federal and the doctors office did all my paperwork. I was approved in 3 days and had to do supervised diet for 3 months prior to my surgery but after I was approved I had my surgery less than a week after the insurance was notified and I was back to work 4 days after surgery and I work as a law enforcement officer
sleevemebaby7781 36 Posted June 16, 2018 That's aweso.e!! I already did the 3 months of supervised dieting. Hopefully I will be able to get in there before I jave to return! This gives me hope.Did you have to show 2 years of weight history as well?Sent from my SM-G892U using BariatricPal mobile app
lex2287 98 Posted June 16, 2018 No.. they only did my 3 month start weight and I met the qualifications due to my BMI and high blood pressure so I was automatically approved. 1 sleevemebaby7781 reacted to this

Sent from my SM-G892U using BariatricPal mobile app Hi there, was wondering if you heard back from BCBS Fed? I have them also, mine was submitted for approval on 6/19 and I was required to show 2 years of weight history. Were you required to do that as well?
