H2neal 40 Posted June 16, 2018 I have had my 7 visits, psych eval, labs, and my group support. As I am getting closer to finishing my hurdles I am starting to get nervous. I am thinking is it really okay to get part of your stomach cut out? And for those that are way post op how is life with part of your stomach being cut out? Any regrets? Sorry nerves are working over time.... 1 Michelleintheoc1 reacted to this
Michelleintheoc1 15 Posted June 16, 2018 I'm glad you posted this! I feel the same way! I'm fearful of complications, although it seems like most people are doing very well afterwards. I'm looking forward to replies. Thanks again for posting. 2 H2neal and Michelleintheoc1 reacted to this
Biddy zz 🏳️🌈 1,004 Posted June 16, 2018 Hey friends - these feelings are 100% normal! I remember posting something similar, and loads of us do in the lead up to the big day. Honestly, it is a good sign - you are not entering this lightly, but in serious contemplation of a life changing experience. Everyone warns ‘you need to change your eating forever’ and similar - I didn’t really ‘get’ that until afterwards - but also, the op MAKES it I easier to do this. You get this great new tool! But is isn’t without challenges. There are days (even a week at one point) where I crave my old crappy diet of junk food. Head Hunger, some call it. But most days I love my new ways of eating, and I ESPECIALLY love my new ways of looking!! Hang in there, we have all been through it and those pre-op days are really tough! But remember, a new you, the real you, is just around the corner... 2 sillykitty and H2neal reacted to this
sillykitty 10,776 Posted June 16, 2018 I love my sleeve and have no regrets. My recovery was easy. My stomach still works as always, just with a much smaller capacity. There is nothing I can't eat. All the talk about it being a tool, and you have to change your eating habits as @Biddy zz mentioned is completely true. You still have to learn to make healthy choices. You still have to stop eating when you're full. You still have to eat only when you're hungry and not graze. You still have to learn to manage head hunger. BUT what my sleeve does for me is give me a safety net if I eat a less than healthy meal. As long as I make it a rare occurrence, then it limits the damage I can do calorie wise. In my case my sleeve has also greatly reduced my physical hunger as well. So that is a big plus, it makes it so much easier to make good choices, stick to 3 meals a day and do intermittent fasting (if that's your thing). 2 H2neal and Michelleintheoc1 reacted to this
H2neal 40 Posted June 16, 2018 I am glad to hear you say this new tool has helped you. I always have head hunger. I want a new relationship with food. I want to eat to live not live to eat. 2 Jsteen and Biddy zz 🏳️🌈 reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted June 16, 2018 And may you be able to control food instead of having it control you! A lot of us served in bondage to junky👿 fast food, we will break our food chains and live a non-slave life forever. 2 H2neal and Biddy zz 🏳️🌈 reacted to this
