jeepgirl4 1 Posted June 16, 2018 Hello, I am 6 weeks post op and should be able to eat small meals per last meeting. I take maybe 3 bites and feel like I am going to get sick. Only thing I can really be ok with is shakes ( tired of!) And pudding. Anyone else has this happen and will it stop? Thanks! Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted June 16, 2018 Not time to worry yet. Six weeks is kind of an average, some people handle solids sooner, some later. Some doctors don't even ok solids until 8 weeks. I have found that getting Soup or something else in the savory realm helped a lot. Since it wasn't sweet, my brain was willing to recognize it as a "meal". Soups aren't particulary high in Protein by themselves, but once they're heated you can stir in 1/2 scoop of unflavored Protein Powder to up the protein content. Don't add the powder before you heat them up, though. The soup will get all clumpy! YUK!
TxAlpha06 114 Posted June 16, 2018 oatmeal alone is not ideal, but adding plain protien powder to that is acceptable like described earlier like soup.....as it was told to me...it's just like eating a protien bar.... 1 Orchids&Dragons reacted to this
soph504 47 Posted June 30, 2018 Try adding a packet of high Protein Bone Broth to soups/stews to add protein to savory meals.
