Gained weight? Is this normal??

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve done on 6/4, up until a few days ago I lost weight every single day. But on Wednesday the scale said I gained 1.5 pounds! I haven’t changed anything with my food, I’ve only been taking in about 500 calories a day.
I’m getting worried, anyone else experience this?

Don't worry, your body is just catching up. You usually lose inches when you don't lose weight. Weight fluctuates a lot. It will be fine!

Hormones, salt intake, how close you are to your period, how many carbs you ingest...all can affect how much Water you retain. I would not worry about this.

I agree that different factors like hormones can play a role. I notice I either stall or gain about 2 pounds between when I ovulate and get my period. Afterwards I go back to losing weight. Before my surgery I would gain weight during that time and loss it after my period started. I still crave salty things during that timeframe too. I believe that is so my body can retain more Water to cause the unwanted bloating lol.

Hope this helps.

It's just Water weight, nothing to worry about. If you ate only 500 kcal that day, your body had to burn some fat to support your basal metabolism, even if the scale showed otherwise.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
