Hormonal imbalances after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I’m 9 months out from my sleeve gastrectomy and 80 lbs down (20 from my goal.) I’ve had midcycle bleeding for the last seven days, which is quite abnormal for me. Pregnancy is not a factor and my cycles have always been regular.

I’m waiting to get in to see my doctor, but I was wondering if any of you have experience with this kind of problem? I know midcycle bleeds can be associated with hormonal imbalances, which can come as a result of rapid weight loss.

I have, I made a post above about never-ending period. I guess I have some sort of hormonal imbalance pre-surgery and was put was put on birth control for it, because i had midcycle bleeding or super long periods. The birth control worked (I'm 38 and had a tubal btw) but lost up my mid cycle sporting is back, but I'm only 10 weeks out and I was told my clinic's nurse that stress from surgery can do that. I will see my doctor soon in a month or so if it continues, luckily i live in a rural area so it takes me a week or less to get in to see her.

My hormones are messed up too! Went from 28 day cycle to 24 day cycle. I’m 11 months out and it’s just settled in.

I deal with this too. I’m on a pill and my doctor said even if I had the sleeve, absorption could be a factor (not as effective) and I might need to consider an implant or IUD. No thanks doc. 😂

I’m a hystersister and am working with my dr to keep my hormones level. I’m still on pills until I hit my forever weight then I’ll switch to an implant. Right now I prefer pills as I can change the amount if needed.

Its a bit different if you’re still fertile, my advice is keep your dr in the loop to make sure you and any surprise blessings stay healthy
