Hi this is my first post here . I had a gastric Sleeve done on 5/31/18 I’m exactly two weeks out. I feel as if I’m not loosing weight fast enough and I’m always hungry . I was told that the hunger hormone would almost disappear; I guess this isn’t the case for me. The main reason for my WLS was my PCOS , could that be a reason for me not to be losing weight fast enough and always hungry.

P.S

I walk 2-3 Miles per day and have started a gym membership (no weights yet) where I do light cardio (until I’m fully healed) about 3 times per week

@xx_Momo_xx everyone is different, some never get hunger ever again, some, the hunger thing never changes. There is no guarantee that your hunger will disappear and never return.

You didn't state what your current caloric intake is, or how much Water you are getting. These 2 things are important to the process as well.
Calories, at this point I'm sure you are consuming less than you are burning, but it's important to make sure that your intake is lower than your output each day.
Water is SUPER important, not only does it flush out toxins etc, our body uses water to breakdown fat, so, if you aren't getting enough water, we can't breakdown fat as best as we can.

Don't try to lose weight super quickly... there are major downsides to losing weight too fast, ranging from gallstone issues to rebounding to have issues with skin shrinkage.

If you are following your instructions, getting your water, getting your exercise, don't stress. Just keep doing that and things will all work out just fine.

MattZ thank you

I will admit that I don’t get the recommended 64 oz. of Water in but I get close to that I would say about 40-50 oz. plus the shakes. I intake about less than 800 calories per day, I’m hoping today I can move on to mushy/soft food so maybe the calories will go up.

Don't worry overall, do the best you can each day and let your body heal up... don't stress about the weight number, it's only 1 number in the whole process, body fat % is equally as important and hardly anyone bothers to track it. So, relax, rest up, get good and healed, follow those instructions to the letter, work on getting that Water intake to upwards of 128oz a day and everything will work out just fine!
You got this!

I had my surgery the same day as you and I admit I am feeling discouraged as well. According to the scale I have only dropped 6lbs. I have noticed a big difference in myself though so I am trying to not take the scale to heart.

I do experience a hunger sensation as well even though I think it might be attributed to too much acid as I currently have acid reflux and when I do eat I don't really get that full sensation but I think that will come when I am on solid foods.

Ahh I understand ; I use to have acid reflux pre op but now I don’t ; I have been cleared to dry soft food ; today I had a soft scrambled egg ( it took me about 30+ mins to eat it) but I do get the hunger sensations and it’s not head hunger. As to the weight loss I’ve set small goals for myself. I don’t weigh myself as frequently but I am starting to notice my cloths hangining off of me so it encourages me to work harder. I’m walking a lot more and doing 20-30 mins of the workouts you can find on YouTube . 3x a week I go to the gym with my husband where I just do light cardio. I’m hoping to get under at or under 200 by July. I hope 🤞. Good luck on your journey I know it can be hard look toward the future and what will happen! I hope I can hear from you again seeing as we are surgery twins ☺️

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
