Somewhere I read that too much protein can lead to issues with gout. Have you ever heard anything like that? Also, JSan, I am intrigued by your avatar - can you share where you found that? It's pretty cool.
J San 1,071 Posted October 29, 2018 Havn't heard that about gout. I did mention it to my NUT the last time I was there and she didn't say anything negative about how much I was getting. I hope it's not too much? I honestly don't know where I found the Avatar, well can't remember anyway. I'll try and figure it out and let you know.
J San 1,071 Posted October 29, 2018 (edited) @nibble I did a reverse search on the image and it did a search on "fit image". It came up with my pic, pinterest link along with many more sculptures https://www.pinterest.com/ronmueck/sculpture-v2/?lp=true . Changed search to "fit image sculpture and this clean female version came up https://www.pinterest.com/pin/550002173217529455/?lp=true I'm pretty sure I came across it on Pinterest while in one of my many rabbit hole searches. Did not do anymore searching on history or who made the original though. Hope this helps. Edited October 29, 2018 by J San

J San, forget what I said about protein and gout. I must have made that up! If you are prone to gout, excess protein can create gout flareups due to a buildup of uric acid (from the protein), but protein in and of itself apparently does not cause gout. I've got to learn to get my fact straight before publishing! Sorry I'm impressed that you can consume so much water in a day. I get thirsty and want to chug a big glass of ice water but it is painful to do that. Your weight loss is impressive. I had surgery just a week after yours and you've lost twice what I have. You rock!

J San 1,071 Posted October 29, 2018 I do count the shakes I make myself, don't like the pre-made, which have usually have 24 to 26 ounces of Water. The most water I gulp is a mouthful, any more than that will hurt and probably come back up. It seems like at night when I'm in front of the TV I get more of my liquid in. I'm not doing anything special for the loss, I don't even exercise and hardly walk anymore. My calorie intake is just up to 800 per day now, I have 4 meals a day. 2 are shakes and 2 are a Protein with usually a veg. I guess the amount of water (suggested by @Matt Z) does help A LOT. No worries on the gout thing and THANK YOU for being impressed. That's a big confidence booster.

Probably time to call my NUT, but last time in I was doing everything "right". :/ I've added in 4 days a week of an hour of crossfit. I'm up to 900 cals, keeping carbs under 50 g and fat under 30 g, and Protein over 80 g. Water is probably around 80 oz, not inc my shake.

I know this sounds bad, but when I hit my 4 week plateau and nothing changed I decided to pick a day during the week to eat whatever I wanted (without feeling sick). After that week I dropped 5 pounds. Its like if your body gets too into a routine the scale refuses to move. lol

J San 1,071 Posted October 30, 2018 With that much crossfit are you gaining muscle. Maybe that's what is keeping your weight up?
lviz 6 Posted October 30, 2018 @jsan just doing very light weights. I’m so out of shape any movement is working out. It gets me in and forces me to stick to the hour workout, but realistically it’s probably similar to an even slightly more fit person walking with 5lb dumbbells 😂 1 J San reacted to this
lizvirgo09 24 Posted November 5, 2018 I'm happy everyone is successful post surgery. It is a life style change and we will all do just fine. I have lost a significant amount of weight. Unable to do the physical activity I thought I could due to low calorie intake and low carb intake. Met with the dietician and going to make modifications. I find if I meet my Protein goal I don't meet my fluids intake since I had a reaction to Liquid Protein and have been eating my protein primarily since week 3. I have lost 52 pounds since July 18th- my surgery. I lost 10 pounds on my 2 week liquid diet. Our dietician will not let us consume that much protein since it will damage our kidneys, just be mindful of that. Research shows it can cause kidney stones as well. Our dietician classes gave us guidelines. Per your dietician or nutritionist, how much Water or liquids can be consumed an hour? just asking.. I read up to 12 ounces. I forgot to ask my dietician. newmeinfla 92 Posted November 14, 2018 Next week will be 4 months for me. Losing a slow rate (39 pounds down). But right now I am on a stall. I am losing hair like crazy, just left the nutritionist said to add collagen for Hair loss. Everything else is good, need to start a good exercise routine.
