At this point you have got to trust that it will be okay. Don't tie yourself up in "nots", I should not have done that. I should of have done this. Why didn't I? All it will do is upset you and make you tense. You are going to be just fine. Relax, little one, Relax.

@nibblehave you found a good Jello recipe? I hate the fake sugar taste, and don’t really want my kids to eat it either.

Jello. I'm posting 3 pix. The Unjury recipe comes from my surgery booklet - they recommend Unjury Protein products. The other recipe is from wellnessmama.com. I'm making jello using these Crystal Light Pure and True Lemon products made with stevia. There is a product, Zing, which is 1/2 sugar and 1/2 dextrose (another 0 cal but highly processed), but I make my own version of Zing: 2 T Sweet Leaf Stevia + 1 cup cane sugar. 1/2 t = 1 T sweetness for 8 calories and avoids much of the refining chemicals and processes. For me, it also eliminates any bitter overtones in the stevia. I've also been trying flavorings from Lorannoils.com -- like root beer, pineapple, caramel, butterscotch ... love adding coffee flavor to my Protein Shakes. Fun site to browze.

Another 7/17 here!!! Have been reading this forum for a few weeks but this is my first comment. Way to go for everyone who has already made it through surgery!

My pre-op diet has been 2 weeks of (3) shakes, 1/2 cup broth, and unlimited veggies, and 3oz chicken per day. I've been mostly hit with a few misses. Down 12 lbs so far. So, all of pre-op has been going well. I have my list of hospital stuff that I'll pack up tonight. I have read and reread over my week one and two post-op diet. But, I am getting nervous. It all seems too simple (post-op food, that is). My surgeon's office has provided me with post-op Vitamins (Bariatric Fusion) and (2) tubs of Protein Powder that they want me to start off with, Other than that, I've not done much shopping or prep. I'll have hubs grab the SF Jello/Popsicles and broth, Looks like I'll have a lot more shopping options for the full liquid and mushy state, but it also looks like these can be moved through pretty quickly, I don't want to buy a bunch of stuff that I only need for a few days. I have bought a handful of 4oz containers that have measurements on the side so I can make them as little as I need. I'm a big planner, so the apparent ease compounded with the importance of the surgery is putting me into a tail spin! :o

Dr. suggested a flashing Water bottle to remind me to drink. Thoughts on the necessity? They are expensive and most seem to have not great reviews. I drink a ton of Water throughout the day, generally speaking I don't need help with getting 150oz in.

Maybe this would be better in the Bariatric Haul convo, I'll probably post there as well, but I'm curious about just what everyone here is doing/feeling!

Me too I’m nervous and I have my surgery on the 17th also

I, too, am full of many "what ifs" - fear of the unknown gets the best of us. I just take a deep breath and tell myself it will all work out fine. Just tip toe thru the tulip days one at a time, and some days tip toe hour by hour. I want to enjoy the ride and not be fearful of it. I consider myself a pioneer on a journey of exploration. Issues will come up, and I will deal with them one by one. This forum is great, knowing I am not alone and have many others sharing the same trip. It's been a really supportive group so far!

There is a good book called, "Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway." It is a self help book.

Thanks for sharing that. Others may want to look into it, too!

Are you ready, Nisha? Just last minute kitchen cleaning here, filling the pet bowls, double check the go bag... I am surprised that I am still feeling excitement. The nerves will kick in Monday for sure, I feel it coming. I want Monday to be a day to get centered, relax, meditate. It's been 198 days getting to this moment, and I want to acknowledge all the roller coaster of emotions and research and appts I've "endured" to get on the gurney to OR - ha! Let's all take a deep breath and think positive, good thoughts. Maybe some favorite music to calm things down.

My surgery is in 2 days! 7/24. Getting nervous and staring to question myself "Do I really need to do this?" but I know the answer is yes......Happy to have a site like this for support! My MD did not have me on a pre-op diet - just clear fluids for 24 hours prior. I guess each surgeon's protocol is different? I wish you all the best and much success with your journey!!!

July 24th

One week of pre-op diet completed.

Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch, 4-5 oz meat and 1-2 cups of low carb veggies for dinner.

No snacks...lots of Water and SF/non-carbonated drinks.

I'm having my surgery on 7/31 and this is the pre-op diet I'm following.

Good luck LVLisa!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
