Not like goal clothing, but I'm thinking about hitting up some yard sales before summer ends to grab a few things to get me through fall and winter. Cuz nobody would be happy if i wake up one day and find myself with nothing that fits...lol

Just get yourself a cozy robe to wrap around yourself and you'll be fine. ;)

I didn’t buy anything except work uniforms, when my 6 weeks were up every uniform I had was literally falling off of me.

That's awesome. How much did you lose in that 6 weeks?

I bought a dress. It hangs were I can see it for motivation. When I feel like skipping a workout or having a cheat day, it’s there to remind me what I’m working towards.

I was thinking about using StitchFix or another clothing subscription service so I could get clothing in progressively smaller sizes without buying things that I could only wear briefly.

Has anyone tried this approach? How did it work out?

I haven’t. I’m just so picky about clothes knowing my luck I’d spend money on an outfit and then end up not liking it

I’ve saved a lot of my favorite clothes from before I gained so much weight and the other day I saw a cute shirt at Maurice’s that said Travel where each letter is made of a different travel thing. I said I wouldn’t buy anything ahead of time but I had to have that.

I bought a couple of shirts and a pair of shorts I liked from ThredUP - the shirts are XL and the shorts are a 16. I figured it’ll be at least a few months but lo and behold, the shorts almost fit 😲. Another 10 lbs and I’ll probably be able to wear them comfortably. I have had issues with even a size 18 fitting right in a lot of brands.

Also, the shorts are white. What the heck was I thinking? 😂

My husband bought me a Green Bay Packer polo shirt in Large. My surgery isn’t until July 30th so I don’t think I’ll be able to wear it this year for Football season, but I’ll definitely be ready next year!

I don't k,ow if I mentioned it on here but I have a Ohio State winter weight coat, not the cheap discount store knock-off. The Bono Fide. When I bought it I rationalized it was for Tomkitten, well he is not the fan I am, it's a large maybe 1XL, so help,me when I get small enough, be it winter, spring or the heat of summer I am putting it on and having,my picture taken. And if it is any good I will post it on Bariatric Pal, even,if my hair clashes with it! So There!

I do rent the runway unlimited, so instead of buying lots of things I will be able to rent new things in smaller sizes :) there are other companies that are similar. I have really liked it! Has helped me through my yo-yo dieting!!! However, that’s gonna be all over August 13th (gastric sleeve surgery date!)

Anyone else bought clothing that you’re hoping will fit as you work towards your goal?

No.

I'm in the fortunate position to have kept several sizes of clothes I passed through on the way up. So now, I use each smaller size on the way down.

I have lashed out and bought new underwear every couple of months.

And for exercise, I swim ... so I have bought a new smaller swimsuit each 6-7 weeks since surgery. (I went 27 years without pools/beaches for swimming so I needed to actually buy swim shorts and rashies.

Before I considered surgery, I was a bona fide shopaholic. I would see things and buy them without trying them on...thinking, yes, I can wear it. So my closet had lots of clothes in various sizes. Well, fast forward to three weeks post op. I look in my closet and start trying on all these clothes that I couldn't wear when I bought them and guess what...THEY FIT! I went from a 1X to a large and I'm beginning to think I could wear a medium. These non scale victories are awesome! The one thing I need to invest in is a good leather belt. I've worn out my old one and there's no more room for another hole :D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
