I am 6 day post opt

Yesterday I started freaking out because my vision was becoming super blurry when I tried to read anything up close (farsighted). Now I have never has any vision issues before, I don’t even wear glasses. 20/20 vision here

It was freaking me out so I started searching online about weigh loss surgery and eyesight. The main thing I found was the connection to scopolamine and blurry vision. I was given scopolamine (a circle patch you put behind your ear to prevent nausea). before I I went to surgery.

So after I read about that immediately took the patch off.

Since it has been off I want to say my vision is a little better. Has anyone else ever have this happen after using scopolamine? If so did your vision ever come back to normal and how long did it take?

I had blurry vision after gallbladder surgery. It was due to the pain medicine. My pupils were very dilated which caused the blurry vision.

I had the patch, but left it on 3 days. Actually I forgot about it. My vision was blurry, and slowly got better over a few days. Nurse said it's normal.

Usually blurry vision comes from touching the patch and coming in contact with your eyes. It causes your eyes to dilate, and therefore causes blurry vision.  Mine fell off after a couple days? Six days post op it seems unlikely if it’s been off to be still causing problems.

The article says to make sure you wash your hands and the area that the patch was on, there may be residue from the medication. It’s easy to have contact, tucking hair behind your ears for example.

I’m a nurse, this is a common side effect of scopolamine. You did the right thing in removing the patch.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
