Recommended Posts

My surgery is june 29th and will be starting my liquid diet soon, any recommendations of how i can plan out my day? I work in an office environment if that makes a difference. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I work in a call center and started it on Thursday, honestly it's been easier at work than at home

Spread them out evenly and drink it even if you aren't hungry because I've noticed that if I wait then the one 11oz shake doesn't put a dent in my hanger lol

Did they recommend a number of shakes per day? My plan is up to 5 shakes a day plus Water and broth. So I think I’ll be doing a shake for Breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, before bed snack. And then other liquids throughout the day.

Start drinking a lot of Water, sip all day to get into the habit for post op.

Try and stick to your plan, but don’t derail all your progress if you slip.

From what I understand my doctors have 2 different ones. 1 is all liquid, the other is a shake for breakfsst. Protein Bar for lunch, 3 oz lean Protein, 1 cup veggies and a small piece of fruit for dinner. broth and sf Jello and popcicles if needed. Obviously im hoping to qualify for the second option...lol

Scheduled for July 21, started pre-op diet the 11th, 3 shakes and a light dinner but I’ve been on vacation since the 7th 🙄 so trying to be as good as possible with a shake for breakfast everyday and not going as nuts with food as usually would have but REALLY nervous what I’ll find when I get home Sat and weigh in for first time in 10 days. If I’ve gained any I’ll have just 3.5 days to lose it before dr appt on the 20th. I’ll probably be doing the 5 shake a day liquid diet others are on and saying a lot of prayers!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
