Hi guys!

I just bought some Life Choice “healthy” chicken hotdogs that are made out of chicken breast and thighs. The fat and sugar was below what I’m allowed to eat so I was wondering if it was okay? I attached a pic so you guys can see. I’m clearly confused lol.

Thanks in advance.

Looks good to me. Sodium is a little high but that's expected for processed meats / "hot dogs" But yeah, everything else looks fine, sugars are low even though there is added sugar in the ingredients, fats are within reason... Sounds like you found a good alternative (if it tastes to your liking).

Thanks for your help! I hope it tastes good...it was triple the price of regular hotdogs! Lol.

I agree with Matt. Looks like a good alternative. It may also be easier to tolerate that chicken or beef because it's likely less fibrous.

It is amazing that you are allowed to eat these only 17 days post op. They look like a pretty good choice versus regular hot dogs (yuk!!) They have some similar ones here at Sam's that are chicken with some spinach and asiago cheese in them that are quite tasty.

I’m in Canada so we don’t have Sam’s (*tear) but maybe I will find some at costco. I just thought these were a good alternative to chicken or turkey breast as I figured they may be too fibrous for me to handle right now!

Thanks! That’s what I was hoping for...I figured the meat would be softer and easier to mush up and go down :)

Probably a good alternative when you get sick of other Protein sources. As others have said the sodium is high but if you used these as a sometimes food to mix it up you should be fine.

UPDATE: so....I had the chicken hot dogs for dinner today and it went down fine. It was pretty yummy although I did notice the salt. Definitely will only be used once in a while but it’s nice to know that I can have a hotdog when the fam is doing their bbq!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
