Hello, So I got sleeved May 29, 2018. Im almost 2 weeks post op. I was out on a Clear liquid diet for 2 days and then started my Full liquid diet afterwards (June 1st) it’s Day 13 of my New journey and so far I’ve had no struggles with my liquids. In fact I’m a little nervous because I had a few Soups that had little pieces of vegetables and chicken. I should have blended it and instead I didn’t. I ate about 5-8oz, is this too much? I haven’t had any full restrictions yet. My worry is that I’m eating too much. I plan on just drinking the broth until my full 2 week full liquid plan is over. (Thursday) I’ve been able to get 64+ oz a day. I usually drink 2 Premier Protein shakes, have 8oz of Soup, about 5oz of farina, and the rest Water. Again I haven’t been full yet I just stop because I feel like it’s the right thing to do. There’s been days when it’s about a few minutes later and I’m hungry all over again. Like really hungry to where I start to feel a bit light headed. Then once I drink a Protein Shake or eat a bit more soup I feel better again. I’m really worried that I’m taken in too much. It’ll be 2 weeks and I’ve only lost 8lbs. I’m not sure if that’s good or not? Also I take all of my Vitamins. I don’t see my surgeon until the 18th. Please Help!

I’m one week post and am having no issues with any of my fluids. I’m drinking as much Water now as I was preop, about 2 litres a day on top of my smoothie, Soups and Jello.

Liquids aren’t overly filling, I’m adding Protein Powder to all my fluids. I feel satisfied after my meals, not necessarily full though.

Stick to your plan, and all should be ok.

I’d be very careful adding ‘solids’ at this stage, it’s better to go without for a few days and add foods/textures as per your plan. It’s not just about the body healing, it’s retraining how we see food and modifying our behaviours.

I am following this topic. I am 13 days post op and I find I can drink a lot of Soup and drink at the same time without pain. I thought the idea was that it would be too painful to put too much in but perhaps there is another reason. So I am also wondering if I am drinking too much. I have 6 to 7 oz of soup for a meal. But I don't hit my water/liquid daily quota - only reach about 45 oz.

I did mistake a couple times and gulped a drink and it was uncomfortable but not hugely.

Interested to hear what others say. Sometimes I feel as if I might fail on this VSG if I can already consume so much

From what I’ve been reading on the forums The liquid phase can be deceiving, and we will notice the ‘fullness’ and restrictions once we are on solids.

I measure everything during this phase so I don’t over consume. I’m drinking between 2 & 3 litres of Water a day on top of my meals.

When do you move on to soft/mushy foods?

@Pearldrop Week 3 is supposed to be mushy foods, so next week. I did try soft scrambled egg last night and it was AWFUL!!! I love eggs, but to me it tasted terrible and it was so difficult to get down that I abandoned it. So I could easily see how solid foods will make us more aware of our shrunken stomach.

However, I did eat a square of dark chocolate with no problems. Scary that I can eat that. I am stuck at 271 lbs for almost a week now.

Good for you for getting so much Water in. Geez, I can barely get 40 oz

I’m constantly sipping. It will probably be harder when I return to work next week, I’ll need to keep reminding myself.

A square of dark chocolate is ok, as long as we don’t eat the block.

I start my purée/mushy phase tomorrow. Have checked in with my nutritionist and he wants me on 800 calories a day during this phase.

I feel like I am failing.....I am up 1 1/2 lbs today. I just don't know how people are able to stick to 800 calories...…..I echo a lot of what people feel in that I wonder why I am hungry all the time and seem to be able to eat more than I should be able to comfortably

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
