I think it's very normal to feel hungry after the swelling goes down, and before the first fill. I think I've seen this referred to as "bandster hell". I went through it too. That is why the band is a tool, not the end-all. You still have to try to eat smaller quantities of good choices, and exercise during this period so that you don't gain back what you've lost since the surgery. However, I remember someone saying that you're not expected to lose until you get filled. Good luck, and know that it's very common to get hungry before first fill.

Good luck.

Sue

Hi there!

Everyone gets the "hungry horrors" between surgery and their first fill. Just do your best to eat the best Protein sources you can, make sure you get in enough Water daily, and start exercising if you haven't already. Your restriction will be much better once you get your first fill. Hang in there!

It is very normal to be hungry before your first fill. I just tried to make really good choices about what i ate and i exercised a lot. I still lost weight. It will be better when you get one or two fills. Donna

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
